I wonder how often people actually used the speech synthesizer anyway. From the videos I've seen, I never noticed it, but we can use pretty epic music compared with the simple beeps BASIC games used to have.
I've been trying to decide whether I should get this on my DSi or 3DS. Probably gonna get it for DSi, because I can always transfer it to the 3DS, but not vice versa. I just hate how bad some DS games look on the 3DS. What are you guys getting it on?
On 3DS because DS games don't look bad if you hold start.

You actually play your DS games at native resolution on your 3DS? I find them too tiny, so then I blow them up, in which case they're fuzzy, in which case I'd rather be playing them on my DSi in the first place.
What are the preloaded games?
Edit: Foud them on the game's site lol
The source codes for all of these little games look so big and complicated (the 2nd one being the longest at about 650 lines, which on a second thought is not that much), I hope it comes with a good manual xD.
There's also a "paint" kind of program to draw stuff (three actually).
And there are also fan made tools that allow you to write the code in a computer and translate it to petitcom archives!
if anyone's downloaded this already, does it include a tutorial or go over everything in detail in the manual or something? idk why i'm kinda dying to get this because i'm sure all i'll do with it is 'hello world', lol, but it's actually kinda hard to scrounge up any kind of decent 'this is what you can do with BASIC' sites on the 'net — they're all about QBASIC or Visual Basic or other programming languages, and i'm pretty sure those aren't really the same :/

If I remember correctly, the main difference with QBASIC was a removal of line numbers. (Though it could still understand them, if used. Some early backwards compatibility!) I don't think any of the major commands or functions were changed, so a QBASIC guide, if you find a good one, may still help you to understand what you're getting yourself into.
BASIC is pretty plain-language and a lot can be figured out by looking at source codes. The official Petit Computer site has some samples to give a general idea of how BASIC functions (http://www.petitcomputer.com/sample/).
But yeah, the presser says that novices should be able to do stuff no problem. I've downloaded the program but haven't had time to start it yet.
good times, thanks guys. i'll probably make the purchase myself a little later :3
