I read a statement somewhere from one of the Nintendo higher ups saying that they don't think much of downloadable games or whatever. I just wonder why if they think that way they release a new DS just for that + a camera. I know I know... whatever money they can make from it.

I think if third parties decided to support it more, it could be great. I think Nintendo just releases their little "Expresses" and "Little Bits Of..." to fill in the gaps.

Also, what "competitors?" Nintendo's president said himself that they aren't competing with Apple. Iwata uses his iPod Touch a lot as well, even at conferences.

I think Nintendo is saving the Virtual Console for DSi for a time when DSi sales are down, or for maybe an anniversary. Majora's Mask was a most-wanted game for a while and Nintendo released it for the 300th game special. Same thing for Super Mario RPG.

@JJosh I do get a feeling that Nintendo isn't very into supporting their online services lately. Only a handful of good WiiWare games have come from them, and one really bad one, too (see: Watching Pokemon live on a ranch=game). They're milking DSiWare for more than it's worth already, and Brawl stopped sending out content daily, and I think they're becoming too lazy to supply us with more Minis DLC and to approve our new levels.

If they're not trying to compete with Apple...then they might wanna rethink their strategy.

They need to make something of the dsi cuz the crappy downloads are starting to make me think I wasted my money but I needed an upgrade I had the original ds and the touch screen was official screwed

He could try and get the the ipod touch game and app developer to work on games for a system he just throws out there and now they aren't going to support it with download content I mean if they don't care about downloadable content whats the point of dsiware or wiiware or virtual console I mean why will they not support it. They rakes in money daily from downloadable content. I mean seriously Nintendo if you want money you need to make more downloadable content.

I considered the DSi to be a HUGE improvement to the original DS. It's lighter, has more brightness settings, and has a much better internet browser.

@SMZ2: True, but my DSi did survive four weeks of summer camp with a few dints in it. My DS has survived much worse but I have faith in my DSi

Sadly it was a very weak tank. My friend dropped mine and it split in two.

@SMZ2.... my understanding is like with DS when it first released. Nintendo is making it very difficult for developers (third party) to develop on DSiWare because of weak dev tools. This happened with DS and Nintendo finally had to break down and lighten up big time and now you see the awesome third party support on DS. Maybe the same will happen for DSi. Time will tell. I know i too fell screwed with my DSi in hand as I dont like the buttons as well as the DS or the matte finish.

How many third parties are actually on board with DSiware?

Excluding the art style games and MFC of course.

We got Gameloft, Hudson Soft, NOOOOO and Wayforward?
If DSiWare developing is clunky and difficult, Ninty should definately ease it up. We have a lot of good games, but they're almsot all ports

As long as Nintendo sticks towards games rather than useless applications that some of its competitors have, the service won't end up being that bad...

Wiiware wasn't great when it first came out but it has definitely improved since then. Hopefully the same thing will happen with the DSiware service

Wiiware wasn't great? Just look at the reviews here!!! Everey 1st-day WiiWare game had at least a 6.
And now look at the DSiWare reviews.
Yes, that's what I mean.
