we could just use the stylus to create the wind and move your person around and also it could be a easy port job for the developers its a big win if they ever did it :(

If I could turn things into skittles I could bring about world peace. I'd just give everyone skittles and turn all weapons into skittles.
The moral:
Just because something is a good idea doesn't mean it's going to happen or is even possible. The only way they could Lostwinds onto the DSi is to severely cut back the graphics and sound quality. Using the stylus to move the wind AND control the character would not work properly and it's well nigh impossible to have a decent control system which has the player use both the D-Pad and the Stylus.

I'm not as think as you technologically impaired I am.

No it would not, it'd almost be like developing an entirely new game, as all the assets would have to be recreated.

Again, this is untrue. The World Ends With You would like to have a nice long chat with you. Not to mention Brothers in Arms DS and Metroid Prime Hunters.

Err... no. Companies don't often share this kind of stuff, and in this case I wouldn't see why you want that. The NSMB engine likely doesn't have any advanced physics in it, which would need to be implemented for some of the actions and the attention to detail with background objects.

@liammiller: I have not played TWEWY or Brothers in Arms so I cannot give an opinion on how well those controls worked but Metroid Prime Hunters had the option to customize your control setup so you didn't have to use the touch screen. However in Lostwinds because you'll be controlling both the main character and the wind at the same time the end result would be very fiddly and awkward. But given your examples I'll change 'impossible' to 'very difficult'.

Alright, that's understandable. For anyone else who is uncertain; Brothers in Arms DS played very much like Metroid Prime Hunters (in terms of controls), whereas tWEWY utilized the control pad and touch screen to control two characters independently from each other. Scribblenauts would also be a fairly good example of D-pad and touch screen use, as it would be far more difficult without camera control.

An entirely new game would be a good idea. I would prefer pixellated graphics for a game like this. You could use stylus to control the wind and d-pad to move.

why not just move your person by moving him with the stylis not the D pad and then slash the stylis across the screen to create the wind.
