I got it free from twitter and it's surprisingly fun, I'd say it's worth five bucks.
If you want I could explain the game.
Edit: I'll do it anyway!
In the main story mode you need to choose a starter jewel and then they tell you a blah blah story about war and magic. Then you're taken to a rather simple "world map" with a bunch of buildings. So far, so Meh.
When you go to the tavern to play missions is when things get good.
Each mission is composed of 10 levels of jewel match 3. To complete a level you must clear jewels on the marked squares on the board or compete some other criteria like clearing X number of Y jewels or killing X number of enemies. Matching jewels in certain formations or quantities generates certain things like bombs and stuff.
The catch is that, as you go matching jewels, minding your own business, an enemy gets closer and closer to your little witch on the top screen. If it gets too close it will start damaging her (she starts with 10 hp). To keep them at bay you need to match jewels of the same kind as your starter jewel (or any other jewel you have equipped) to fill magic bars. When the bars are filled the witch will so some elemental magic depending on the color of the jewels.
Monsters are weaker or more resistant against certain kinds of magics and so on.
Killing monsters gives you extra reward money, but you only have 120 seconds to complete the level. So don't lose too much time matching your jewels.
At the last level of a mission, after you complete the normal level, an artifact appears at the top of the board, you must get it to the lowest part of the board before the time runs out or you won't get it. They're optional, but still.
I haven't tried other modes or advanced much in history mode, but so far it has been a fun and fast "action" puzzle experience.
You gain more hp by collecting items and progressing in story mode... In classic mode you start with 10 too and it doesn't regenerate.
I played some of classic, you get to choose 4 jewels from the beginning. The board starts out prett small and the mosters slow. The goal is to survive as long as possible killing mosters and matching jewels.
With every new level the board grows a little, the monsters get faster and more "junk" jewels (the ones you don't need to use magic) start to appear.
The goal in story mode is to get money by playing missions to fill the map with buildings. Once you get the final building (the "Splendid Altar") you win.
There are two kinds of buildings, magic ones and support ones.
The support buildings give you new levels and the magic ones give you new powers and abilities, but you can only have 3 magic buildings.
Edit: seems like I got the seconds, wrong, they actually give you about double of what I said lol
wondering how many got this. Tempted but 5 is very high for a DSIWERE game.. would of got it day 1 for 1.99
You got a problem with DSiWare?
Yea 90% of it is pure crap
Except Petit Computer, Cave Story, Shantae, (which I've never played but people like it) Puzzle Quest, Ancient Tribe, Rayman, and this. That's seven games that aren't bad. Petit Computer is obviously the best game in DSiWare, but these are good. Cave Story being second best.
