I'm one of the people who created Art Academy, and the team and I are very happy to see people making some amazing artwork with it. I'm especially pleased that OsoOto feels it has helped him develop new skills!
Thanks! It IS a great program, I really use these painting tips whenever I draw something! I'm usually doodling in class and before my friends would look at my drawings in disgust, but now they're just speechless and go, "hey.. how'd you do that?"
_ I'm so getting Second Semester.

Wow. Everyone's tremendous talent has me jealous, haha! I have a question; do you guys put your DSi on the table for better streaks and more precise painting or do you hold it as you normally would? Oh, and what kind of sports drink do you guys intake to become so godly in drawing?

Thanks Oso. But I certainly don't feel talented at all. I've been trying to paint and draw for years but never had a clue what I was doing. I have packs of art pencils, but didn't know which ones I should be using, so sketching out that pear really helped me. Using the grid on the application helps as well (don't know why I never thought of doing that on my own). And what I've learned about mixing the paints is just stick to a few colours for each area. I'm still experimenting with adding different amounts of water to the brushes, and sometimes go over bits a few times until I like the way it looks. But that's something that I wouldn't be able to do with real paints because it would have to dry with each step. So this really is a great way to practice. I'm sure if you just keep experiment Oso, you'll find you're much better at it than you think. In the few days I've had this application I've gained a lot of confidence in what I'm capable of doing... but I think it'll still be a while before I could transfer these skills to a real canvas. Hey... that makes me wonder .... has anyone tried printing one of their pictures off on real paper? I wonder how well they'd come out?
oh, and Oso .... I hold my DSi in my hands, or prop it on the arm of the sofa while I'm working. I need to keep it pretty close in order to see well.

In other news, a local New Jersey resident bought out 3 supermarket's worth of grape soda. When asked, he said he wanted to draw amazing pictures on a Nintendo DSi handheld system XD
Well, I'm attemptin' to draw the red sail boat and the pepper, I'm making a facebook account just for this to show it to ya' guys Really motivating me to draw more.

@Victoria- Are you in NA? Because that may be why it didn't work. I'm working on a new flipnote of Toon Link but it's not going as well as I'd like as faces are my kryptonite

Nope ... I'm in the UK. Maybe I just need to link to one of your Flips, then I can add you?
Speaking of Flipnotes .... does anyone else keep hitting the wrong buttons when trying to change tools 'cos you think you're on Flipnotes, but you're not? Grrrr.

If you want to embed a Flipnote use [ flipnote: (Flipnote Notation) ] but close up all the spaces. The Flipnote Notation can be found on the right hand side of the page of any Flipnote.

The irony in art academy is that I was just getting into art and started taking two art classes when it was released. I thought wow this is amazing and am always intrigued by the next lessons. Trust me, I knew NOTHING about art detail before class and Art Academy. I always drew comics, although I mainly use that as a story telling mechanism. Flipnote has been a great way for me to give my comics basic animation as well record my voice for the humor. Sorry, I don't know how to embed anything really.

FATEM - Thanks. After much fiddling about copying and pasting the right bit from your link, I was finally able to get to your Flipnote site. (Then I couldn't remember my password. Grrr). However, I was able to get your code and find your flips through my DS. The code you gave me is completely different from the one I pulled up: X, L, X, Y, Left arrow, Y, X, R, Right arrow, R I wonder why that is? Edited:: Oh wait, that must just be the code for the flip. ... anyway. I found ya
Brandon - Have you uploaded any of your Art Academy pictures to your computer? And have you uploaded your Flipnotes to the website? (Once again I wish this silly site let us send personal messages so I could give this info without boring the rest of the forum.)
