forgive me if this has been brought up before, but i am wondering if others are thinking about this. if you can turn off the 3D effect on the 3DS, then will they be playable on DSi's?? what do you think?? i am hoping at least some will. i don't know the technicalities of it (i'm an artist, jim, not a software engineer, dammit!).

3DS cartridges will have a little thing sticking out of the cartridge, thus they will not be able to be inserted, let alone played, on any prior DS model. DSi-enhanced games however, should retain full compatibility with the 3DS.

It wouldn't surprise me if future DS games will include extra features, functionality or just smoother performance if played on a 3DS, but it wouldn't work the other way around.

"Gee, that's really persuasive. Do you have any actual points to make other than to essentially say 'me Tarzan, physical bad, digital good'?"

Nope, the game card shape won't fit into the DS slot. A bit like how GBA carts won't fit into a GB slot.

Also the 3DS is a much more powerful system, so even if the cards fit the games would definitely not be able to run on the older hardware.

The 3DS isn't supposed to be an "upgrade" of the DS like the DS Lite and the DSi/XL were. It's a brand new generation, like the step from GB to GBA.
