Topic: Wi-Fi DS Games: Do you still play them?

Guys, it's been a while since I've made a forum post, but I still don't have a 3DS. I still try to play MKDS and whatnot online, but I haven't been able to find anyone out there that still plays Wi-Fi with the original DS family? I bought an Xbox 360 instead, and I'm realizing now that I miss being able to play Pokemon with my friends (they all moved on to X and Y, people are complaining about having AC:NL instead, and I'm usually just sitting in the corner, crying and playing Tetris DS and AC:WW).

Also, I have friend codes, if you want to join me in my loneliness.

I miss having a chatroom that was always in beta.

i wanted to get new maps for advance wars darc conflict but an error occured. i think i have to change the options for DS-connectivity on my 3DS or something like that. maybe DS-wifi doesnt work with our new w-lan router. though 3DS games do work. i dont know

I don't use my old DS online because it only supports the old, almost-useless encryption. I use stronger encryption for my router.

Edit: And use Action Replay. I'm highly skilled at Snaking in Mario Kart DS, but there is always someone who has a cheat on that makes them stay in 1st.

Even stuff like Mario Tennis Open has that problem. If you disconnect you should lose all the points for the game (As if you didn't win a point). It is even the highest rated ones that do it. Play a normal none tiebreak game win your serve and disconnect if you think your opponent might beat you.

no seriously, seeing how the Wii was so quickly discontinued, how 3DS is going fine and it also has a few online games I considered online was out for most DS games already

I don't have a 3DS either, I play online a lot. Won my first game of Black Ops, and that was a good memory
Depends on the game really. Less popular games usually get fewer players online than popular ones. Just a tip.

I have nothing really to say about myself.

This was why I never played mine online. It's not just the DS (the DSi supports WPA/2) but the games themselves. The overwhelming majority of games don't allow you to connect to a router with anything other than WEP. I had to temporarily turn off my router's security to get my victini in Pokemon White when i played it on my DS Lite. Luckily when I got my 3DS the game supported WPA2 so I could play online without leaving my network open.

You could always try creating a WEP hotspot with your router, if the router supports it. Especially if you can limit the devices connecting it to the DS.

Currently playing: Pokémon Y, Rune Factory 4

not to forget some routers can even make it so only certain MAC adresses can use it so you can set it to your DS without even a password(but I only recommend so if there's a way to set up a hotspot exclusively for the DS as it is a mess to configure many devices' MAC adresses)

I STRONGLY suggest you trade in your DS and get a 2DS or find a really cheap 3DS somewhere. The DS has so many great games but I think the online for it is nothing compared to the massive online for 3DS. Thats my advice, man.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Nope DS Lite hasn't been able to connect online in about 3-4 years, liked playing Mario Kart (before it was ruined by hackers), Star Fox command (really fun dog fights) and Pokemon. I played a bit of Black/White 2 online but stopped when X/Y was released.
