Topic: Why's everyone hyping up the 3DS?

Seriously, I'm getting my first ds this year. I have no interest in getting a 3DS. It sounds more like a novelty than a gaming system tbh. But why do guys want it so much?

It's gonna be huge. Make DS look like the Neo Geo Pocket Color.

Well its not another DS like lite or DSi, but the next gen system, that in itself is pretty exciting, though its the games that matter really, whether I get 3DS day one will depend on its launch titles, though probably only Zelda would make it an instant purchase for me.

I think a main reason everyone on here is hyped up about it is, this is a Nintendo site full of fans. I think anything Nintendo makes we all will be hyped up about

If it had the power to run a game like Ocarina Of Time and they actually give it a port, then I will actually sell my DSI XL which I'm getting later this year, to get one.

The thought of physically manipulating a 3D image that appears to be floating 'outside' the screen, is just too much!

lol believe me, I'm not a troll. I'm just not a ds owner at the moment. I'm getting a ds later this year. I'm here to get info about ds games and stuff. But I noticed a lot of people talking about how amazing the 3ds is but from what I've heard it doesn't sound that great. For example, the way you have the option to switch between 3D and 2D shows that the games aren't built specifically for 3D so really the 3D wont be as impressive as it sounds.

I dunno, I'll have to wait to see footage of it. Maybe I'll get that instead of an XL if it is indeed any good.

Reason they have that option, chances are this glassesless 3D stuff will bother your eyes after a while. That's what I'm thinking.

I think some of the hype has a lot to do with the unknown. Aside from knowing there will be 3-D, not a lot has been said about the system, so people are pretty excited to see what all the system will be. Of course, there is also the fact that this is Nintendo's next-gen handheld, and Nintendo doesn't often disappoint, especially not when it comes to handhelds.

People are hyping it too much and bestowing specs on it that it probably won't have. Some actually believe it will have graphical power equivalent to the GameCube, which is absurd considering how horrible the battery life would be (especially if they add all the other rumored specs into it).

Personally, if Ninty does it right, it will be the next huge thing. seriously. and it's the first ever handheld console to display 3D graphics without the need of a particular equipment, believe me, this is a milestone if Ninty will do it right.

Also, I think if Nintendo gets this right it will surpass the number of total handheld gaming devices ever sold.

That's exactly what people were saying about the DSi... but look! It's selling strong! 2.2 million units in North America alone!

My point is, no one knows for sure what it will be like, so there will be no doubt a horde of fans just waiting to get their eyes on it. The hype leads to impulse buys, those lead to reviews, reviews give it a fair shot, the rest of the gamers read them and make a judgement.

The reason is just like why we hyped the Wii and DS.
