My only point the awful is a very strong word for perfectly fine game. What the best platfomer is up to the indvidual gamer. For me I would choose Castle.
Well, Castle of Magic basically threw in every cliche of the platform genre, but did them worse than the games Gameloft took the ideas from.
End result - a mishmash of poorly executed good ideas. Terrible level design, too. It's like a 10 year old decided to design a platform game.

The only game that I have played from Gameloft is Castle of Magic. I thought that it was pretty mediocre and generic. I seriously doubt that I would ever buy another one of their games.

If you read the reviews though, they seem to be either forgiving the game because it's on DSiWare, or admit it's incredibly generic, but don't mind.
And lets not forget here, we're talking about one of Gameloft's better games. Awful to merely average is doing pretty well for them. Were I to score it I'd give it 5. Try playing the puppy one of Legends of Exidia. Then you'll encounter Gameloft at its real finest.

Metacritic is using the score from Nintendo life and I'm glad I listen to reviews. If I don't listen to reviews then I would have missed out on so many great games like TV Show King 2, Asphalt 4, Art of Balance etc.

Legends of Exedia is good? Because I have that on my wishlist and was thinking about getting that next.
That game alone proves that Gameloft doesn't stink.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Once you do, you'll never go back to the first one. The sequel is superior in just about every way.

According to wikipedia, Gameloft has a sequel to their I-phone game coming out sometime this year. Gangstar 2, Hopefully this will be a must have title from them. Who knows, it also maybe DSIwares first M rated game....
Castle of magic and asphalt 4 is the only Gameloft games i own and they are both DECENT if you ask me. Castle mainly for it's nice design, and some decent gameplay with a somewhat lengthy story mode. it's too easy though. asphalt 4 design is a meh. doesn't keep you playing for a long time in fact i don't even play it any more. if i do it's rarely. it's a waste of a good 800 dsi points which i regret wasting on asphalt. however i do look forward to buying legends of exidia if i actually get a hold of some more nintendo points. but to stay more on topic, gameloft seems to be putting some effort in their games and show some good support to dsiware. they show more effort then other companinies supporting DSiware out there.

They're the two I own but I have a completely different opinion of them, Asphalt 4 is a pretty good racing game apt for pick up and play and I can play it any point, it also has better graphics than some retail DS games(NFS: Nitro for instance), I still have it on my DSi. Castle of Magic was a generic platformer, which was really short, with a silly camera gimmick in it that wasn't needed at all, it also for some reason can't be copied to an SD card(for me anyway) whilst all my other games can.

I wouldn't have a problem with them, if their games didn't cost usually about 5 times as much on DSiWare than on the Apple store when you get a better quality game usually on the itouch, because it's more powerful. If you have an iphone/itouch, unless the game is really good, and the controls are much better on the DSi (probably not a problem for something like UNO, but could be an improvement for something like Asphalt racing), there's really no point. It's not like they're games are the only mediocre games on Ninty's download services. At least they're generally not broken, like some WW games.
It's just pricing that gets me, but I think that's more Ninty's fault then Gameloft.
I am way too lazy to think of something clever. My Backloggery
