I would have to say... Planet Puzzle League. After reading all the glowing A+ 10 star near-100 point reviews of this game, I bought it outright just the other day and boy was I dissapointed!! Much more difficult than I initially thought and not much fun for me overall. And that is surprising since I love puzzle games (Tetris, Pictobits, etc) This is a repetitive boring game and I dislike it very much.
Anyone else?
What were games that were lauded as "MAGNIFICENT!" and when you got it you were like... pfft???!!

Friend Code: 4511-0578-9918 Fan of: Zelda, Mario, Pac-Man, Metroid, Capt Toad, the list goes on. Love all systems: GBA, GBA SE, NES, Gameboy, 3DS, N64, Super Nintendo, etc, Atari, etc.
I`d have to go with Zelda Phantom Hourglass. Dull sailing (which there was truly enough of) and decent gameplay. I didn`t even finish it all, thats how boring I found it to be. Overall it didn`t feel like a good ol`2-D or 3-D Zelda.
Must just be me.

Chalk this one up to EXTREME pre-release ignorance: The DS Assassin's Creed game. It SUCKED! In retrospect, I should've expected as much, but I was actually looking forward to that piece of crap at one point! So embarassing to admit...
To go off in a slightly different direction (it's more or less related; DS...DSiWare...whatever), Mighty Flip Champs disappointed me. It wound up being much harder than I was expecting, and the controls weren't the best they could've been, imo. I don't outright HATE MFC, but I was expecting much better.
That's all I can think of just now. I'll post if something else comes to mind later.

Magical Starsign...it was the first console-style RPG I got for DS and I was really hoping for greatness...and I dunno it was just an absolute chore to play. As soon as I got Final Fantasy 3 DS it never re-entered, and on the shelf it sits.

Phantom Hourglass. Wind Waker is my favorite GameCube game so I got really excited for it but I just didn't really like it. I still haven't finished yet, maybe after Chrono Trigger and GTA IV.

All great choices... and I agree with alot of what you guys say, too. I think sometimes when a reviewer likes something personally they give it a 9 or a 10 but don't consider the negatives of a game (like excessive boating in Zelda Hourglass.) LOL.

Animal Crossing - They can take your stuff?? That's lame!

Maybe the worst controls, or at least most sensitive controls ever.. It's good grapichs, but that just doesn't help very much when you fall of ledges and start over and over again all the time..
Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow... got it for 12 bucks. Never player Castlevania Games before so i thought i might try one for cheap. Boy, i hate that game. Crappy cheap deaths, random soul spawning, RESPAWNING ENEMIES, and you never know where to go. I just popped in again for this threads sake, and after 5 min of exploring i got turned to stone just to fall into spikes which killed me in 2 secs. i hate that game.

Wow, I almost bought a castlevania game for DS. I guess I was lucky I got TWEWY (Read: greatest RPG ever made) instead.
Anyway, I throw in a vote for New Super Mario Bros too. I honestly preferred SMB3 on virtual console, and that one only cost me $7. Took it back the next day and got a refund. Burnout on DS sucked compared to the PS2 version, but I think that might have been in 2005. Took it back the next day and got a refund. I also wasn't a fan of Professor Layton. That being said, I did enjoy it enough to beat it to completion. Also, Blastworks for Wii I hated. It is my only retail Wii game I imported from the US, and If i didn't have to take it half way around the world to land where consumer rights are a myth (=þ) I would have taken it back the next day and got a refund. Willing to trade it BTW.
On a more positive note, I was pleasantly surprised with The World Ends With You. Get it!
I too am really disappointed in Animal Crossing Wild World. I play the Wii versions for hours, so I couldn't wait to get my DSi and a copy of ACWW. The DS one is so lame compared to the Wii's. Glad I didn't get it before I got the Wii version or else I might never have given it a chance.

Well, they are the same game, so it's an either/or kind of thing.
The DS games that I was surprised I didn't like are FFIV and EBA.
Drawn to life. I thought it would be so cool, and I would actually get to create EVERYTHING. Sadly, no. It gave you an outline, and you just filled it in. The gameplay also wasn't great. I sold it to chip in for our first REAL wii game.
Ah! Agreed, SonicMaster. It was a real disappointment. I played it once through and got rid of the darned thing!
@dude: For what it's worth, that's my least favorite DS Castlevania game. Though if you really suck quite THAT badly, the other ones may not be much better for you. Not sure. shrug
