Draw some buttons on the screen, Kid_A! That's my plan, at least. The World of Goo microgame in that video was cool. A couple of the other ones... not so cool.

This game is probably my most anticipated game for the DS this year (unless scribblenauts 2 is really good) This is one of the few games I must get on launch day this year instead of waiting until Christmas like I usually do for most games.

go to www.virtualhamgames.com for great original independent games, a help service, and reviews for our games.

That's a good idea--I've seen a few microgames that played with that concept (mostly with directional buttons but I don't see why one couldn't create a jump button as well).
And as for that video, I have have a sick sense of humor so I at least got a laugh out of it (especially the suicidal bird)

I really hope you can share minigames worldwide. On both the DS game and the WiiWare Showcase.

Well you can't really on the DS game (from what I understand). It's confined to friend codes--but of course since you're on Nintendo Life there's doubtlessly going to be a WarioWare DIY Friend Codes thread, so you'll have a chance to show off your creations to the world if you don't mind typing in a few numbers

On the WiiWare version you can share videos worldwide, but you can't actually create microgames on it. That's why it's called "Showcase". You just send your DS microgames to the Wii so you can play them on the big screen and share them online.

I'm sort of in wait-and-see mode on this one. Being able to create microgames is really intriguing to me, but the fact that they limit you to so few input methods (no mic, no camera, only tapping with the stylus, etc.) makes it seem horribly neutered and limited. I realize they did this to allow people with the Wii to play, but I wish they had included them and allowed you to pick and choose if you wanted a microgame to be playable on the Wii or not.

Although, my mind could be changed once I see what people start coming up with.

I just saw the tutorial videos, and now I am officially hyped. I was afraid that the game-maker would be really simplified, but it looks pretty deep.

Have a link to that?

Does anyone know if it's possible to make boss games, and if it's possible to assign genres to the microgames and themes (meaning the little animation between microgames) to the genres? I really doubt it, myself, but I'd do backflips if I could have a hand in the whole package like that. I'm just dying to get this game and find out the whole extent of what I can do with it.

I don't know why but I never even thought of that! I'm pretty darn sure that it doesn't, but that'd be a great addition for a sequel!

So I'm guessing the microgames are going to be 5 seconds long only huh? Ah well, wish there were an unlimited time option (for Boss Stages), I'm still nabbing this game regardless though.

My idea for a microgame got read on IGN's Nintendo Voice Chat (a Punch-Out microgame, pitting Little Mac against King Hippo). Apparently there's already one in 9-Volt's collection. So basically what I heard was..."your idea was so good that Nintendo already put it in the game"

You won't be disappointed. It's fantastic and very flexible with designing your own microgames. We'll have a review up by Saturday.

I'll just get Showcase, since it's just a fairly cheap download compared to the full DS release.

@Corbie
Great news, man. And the review a day before the release? I could start getting used to that

Eh, I don't see the point in that. The whole point of Showcase is that it allows you to play your DS creations on the big screen (and share them online). Beyond that I don't see the appeal.

That's what I'd prefer, simply enjoying other ppl's creations that they send online. Sounds fun to me

I'm not entirely sure how it works, I think you're able to download other games from friends you've added on it. Then again you may need the actual game to do so...I dunno, anyways he'll be missing out then, lol.

I'll find out more info once it is released.

This game just looks awesome. As others said, probably not my most anticipated (that would be left to Monster Hunter Tri) but definitely a great looking game. I might get Showcase as well, but only depending on if (and how) the games can be played in multiplayer, otherwise I don't see the point.

Does anyone know how many microgames can be stored in the WiiWare showcase?

I believe the guy in the intermediate tutorials said 90.

EDIT: Oh, showcase. I don't know, then. However, I imagine it'd be more, since the creation tool isn't in showcase.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.
