Hello all, I'm new to this site, but am glad I've found it. I've been looking for a place to get reliable info and reviews on DSiWare other than wiki.

But on to my comment...

I'm 30 years old and I fell in love with the DS last fall. And when the DSi came out, I just couldn't pass it up! But as the weeks go by, my frustration with the DSiWare releases grows... The only app/game I've got any satisfaction from is the Browser. Now, that's not to say there are some interesting titles on the horizon, but dang! Give us older gamers SOMETHING! PLEASE! Pop Star? Are you frickin' kidding me??? I know everyone keeps saying 'Give it some time...WiiWare started off slow...', well, shouldn't Nintendo have learned from the WiiWare launch??

I'll give it six months. If North America doesn't see better releases or confirm there will be some sort of Virtual GameBoy like the VC for Wii, I'm going to get rid of the dang thing! I kept my Lite and will be very happy to have it as my sole handheld again!

My sister-in-law traded her DSlite on day1, while I held off insisting I won't buy a console that has no games (proper DSi games). I was right, as she has wasted loads points on crud (i tell her to read reviews but she's all about her rights and not being told what to do, oooh). So yeah, i feel for ya.

I'll be jumpin on board the moment some cool games/software arrive. Again.... E3

I have Birds & Beans, AQUIA, and Paper Airplane Chase. Boring and repetitive. Seems like a theme so far for the DSIWare releases...boring and repetitive. Like I said, I'll give Nintendo six months to get their act together, if it's still more of the same, then I'll be done with it...not like they care what my opinion is, but there it is.

Welcome to the site Mikarlo. This is a great site for all Nintendo news. I haven't purchased a dsi myself but, as an older gamer myself, I know what you mean when it comes to constant crappy releases from Nintendo. Today is actually a decent update in N.A. It's been horrible the past couple months. I would keep the dsi. I'm sure they'll start releasing the good stuff eventually. It just sucks that Nintendo actually likes keeping they're customers waiting a good while before releasing anything decent.

Mikarlo, I'd still say go for PictoBits, it's awesome because there are about 30 stages and they are all different in look and difficulty, and it has all the old school Nintendo stuff in it, like remixes of original Nintendo tunes and 8-bit characters if you dig that stuff. The game itself is really fun, very similar to Tetris in ways where it's still addictive and not repetitive. And you start with 15 stages and you can buy more with money you've earned in the game along with music.

Hmmm... after downloading AQUIA, I swore off the Art Style series, but you make this one sound a little more appealing than the others. TY and I'll look into it. But I still need better releases than the 'games' they're offering us so far...

In fairness, you can't pick up a DSi so soon after launch and bemoan the small amount of downloads available. The very nature of these services means that the amount of software is directly dictated by how long people have been developing/releasing for it. Of course there's very little available on day 1...that's why they call it day 1!

Give it time. There are a few interesting releases on the horizon, and once the handheld VC launches you'll be in heaven. I'm sorry you're disappointed with the slim pickings so far, but...well...that's what the internet (and sites like this) are there for.

I could care less about the DSi or any hand held system. Just doesn't do it for me. I just don't want VC and WW to be affected by DSiWare. (less releases)

It's not all bad. While we haven't seen a Virtual Handheld sadly yet, which what we need, it's not terrible either. In fact, during it's 1 1/2 month in the US market, we've seen some good games:
1. Bird & Beans
2. Art Style: AQUIA
3. Paper Airplane Chase
4. Dr. Mario: Express
5. Brain Training Express: Math (I know I'm going to get flamed for suggesting this)
6. Real Life Soccer 2009
7. American Popstar: Road to Celebrity
8. Art Style: DECODE
9. Art Style: PICTOBITS.

Nine solid DSiWare games, not too bad for a new service right?

Decode isn't out in the US. Most of the rest of that list looks pretty good though.

Come on, friends,

I agree completely. Im an older gamer myself. I get very mad at the big N myself to for the constant younger audience releases. Sometimes it feels like Nintendo has forgotten us older gamers. I actually sold my Wii last Christmas because of this. First N system Ive ever sold. Gets me because no offense to you younger gamers cause I was once there myself. But the older gamers have more money to drop week after week to support our gaming hobbies wich leads to the question, Why not more releases geared to older gamers?

@ Mikarlo Comment 7: If you're not sure check out vids because those sealed the deal for me, the review here is great too. I think it beats everything else on the service. And I totally forgot about Dr. Mario, that one's not bad considering it lacks a Vs. mode, I played that the most next to PictoBits on my DSi.

I don't blame you for swearing off the AS games after Aquia (i think i've played it like twice since i bought it, it's so boring!), but Pictobits is really a lot of fun and well worth the five bucks.

gasp! say it ain't so, Chicken Brutus? i did not know we were on opposing sides here. D:

clearly, this calls for the both of us to take up residences opposite one another, where we will sit on our porches with our families, play banjo music, and sip moonshine. we will also fire upon one another's vehicles with rifles as they pass within range of said residences. it is the only way to resolve this issue!

Aquia is cool, it's just too difficult for me. Never passed stage 6...I don't seem to be able to strategically destroy blocks...and stage 6 goes dark in like 20 seconds...

And for the record, I was never friends with either of you!!! MWAHAHAHA!

...it's lonely out here......

P.S. - The soccer app is pretty fun for 800 points....seems worth way more than the 800 it costs imo, given that it's a well-designed soccer game, it's portable, and it has zounds of teams

Thats funny ChickenBrutus because Im sitting on my front porch playin my banjo and typing at the same time while playing my DSi, drinking some strong green homemade moonshine and petting my dog Brutus with my left foot. The one with toes still on it. Man what a strange post that is when I read it. Imagine had I been eating Chicken while reading it also.

I think Mikarlo is exactly right with his aggrivation. MFC still isnt here and if your not into puzzle games it seems its pretty bare on DSiWare. The soccer app is good if your a soccer fan seeing as it is a released DS game ported to DSiWare wich isn't a problem, but not a big soccer fan. I downloaded Pictobit and I think it rocks. Aight, time to play Retro Game Challenge.
