I started with the Japanese edition in September. This game kicks ass and I can't wait for the English version. I picked Totodile as my starter, it's still as awesome as ever. Johto and Kanto had so many awesome pokémon. What I like about the game is that almost all new things from Crystal are also in here such as the dragon elders and the secret areas in Ruins of Alph. Also, Kanto is much better now, Viridian Forest, Seafoam Island and Cerulean Cave are all back from the Red, Blue and Yellow versions (or FireRed and LeafGreen for that matter).
Even though this game is a remake of an earlier game, it is also the remake of the best Pokémon game up to date. And for that, it might just be the best ever. They did their best to make it much more expansive and fun to play the game instead of just making it a simple cash-in. One thing i missed was the berry system introduced in the original. All of the berry trees are now apricorn trees for making rare pokéballs. There are no berry trees or spots to plant them in, so berries are very hard to get in this game which is a shame as it was one of the best additions in the GBC version and being improved upon in later games.
@Rensch - Can you still fight Red in that one mountain area?
Yes, you even have to in order to unlock something special ;D I think the Kanto region sucked in this game It was really beautiful but there was almost nothing to do, just the same problem as in G/S/C
Edit: Mt. Silver looks much better now and you fight Red at the top of it They made it kinda the fashion of Mt. Coronet in D/P/Pt

What am I excited about in this? The Pokéwalker! I mean, it's a pedometer that levels your Pokémon up like in the Day-Care center. That just sends a casual gamer like me into bliss.
I'm back with a shiny new 3DS, yay! FC: 5370-0428-9949 Walker is the best Animal Crossing character ever.

Well, there is a catch to this: you can only level up one level and then it stops. So if you were thinking about racking up your Cyndaquil in no-time by just taking the PokéWalker with you when you go out to buy some groceries, forget it. You will have to transfer it again and start walking again to make it grow another level with the PokéWalker.
An interesting thing though, is that there are courses in which you can find wild Pokémon to obtain. Some of these pokémon can only be found in the PokéWalker courses. New courses can be unlocked through various means. Each course has its own specific pokémon, sometimes with special items or moves that are difficult or not at all available in the games.

For some reason, when I pre-ordered it at gamestop, I said HeartGold instead of SoulSilver, when I had full intentions of getting the latter. I hope I can change that...
