what do you think people is it going be good or bad personally i think the train is a great idea

I think it's a good idea, but I'd rather see them take the series back to the way it was in Link to the Past. Something a little more old school.

Plain old gamer :)

I'm just afraid that the train will hurt the free-roaming aspect of this Zelda iteration and make the game seem to linear. Like how in FFX you couldn't walk around the world map anymore, relegated to being carted around in the airship to predesignated points.

Although I enjoyed Phantom Hourglass, I have to agree with Corbie -- Back to the old style! These gimmicky boats, trains, and dogs just dilute what should be a pure experience. It's like wanting a hamburger but getting a ham sandwich with whipped cream on top -- it might be interesting, but it's just not right..

Amen.

Too linear, too late. Zelda has been linear for awhile, especially in Phantom Hourglass, which this game follows in design. I'm not saying any of these games are necessarily bad. I liked PH except for the hub castle, and especially loved versus mode. But we need some real Zelda, too.

Nintendo needs to make the DS Zelda games more like A Link to the Past. Personally,I see this game as a trainwreck.

I agree its too linear...

@ Adam
PH wasnt linear at all! it was completly free roaming goodness Link and the boat could go anywhere.

HAVE YOU GONE CRAZY!?!?!?

This is a great game but I'd like to see toon link move over and let normal link take a shot at the DS.

Not really. You have to get certain maps first, and you have to beat the dungeons in order. You're free to roam around to past areas all you want, but there's little purpose to it.

No,but if the whole game is centered around in a train,it COULD be a train wreck.
They are going to dumb down the game for kids,so that is A BAD sign.
Not only that, but touch screen only controls?
I don't know about that. But,hey I have never played Phantom Hourglass,so maybe I'm missing out on a hidden classic.

Like every other Zelda?

You haven't liked any Zelda games up until this point?

And to those saying "Yay Link to the Past DS!" that'd be a horrible idea.

Now that Link has entered the 3D world a lot of people aren't going to buy into the whole retro thing. It'd be the worst selling Zelda in a long time.

@AlexSays: People aren't necessarily talking about graphics. I agree, though. A Link to the Past wouldn't really work in 3D.

I meant the game play style, not the graphical style.

I would certainly get a pixelated Zelda -- Minish Cap and Four Swords Adventures were good -- but I also like how Phantom Hourglass looks, so it doesn't matter. I even like the controls for PH. But the game design and dungeons stink.

3D can stay for all I care, but they should bring the game back to Link to the Past-style action and exploration.

EDIT: Well, Super Pixel Man said it well enough before me, but needless to say, yes, that is what I meant. Though I very much disagree that Link to the Past couldn't be remade in 3D (not that I'd want a remake, I have the original). Phantom Hourglass and Link Rides a Train are both in 3D but the camera is almost directly overhead, so that engine could well be used to recreate the old 2D game style but in 3D.

But its NOT centered around in a train so that isnt a problem.dumb it down for kids?do you mean how hard it is or the violence? nintendo does need to stop lowering the violence... it sucks more now.

Oh and also....YOUVE NEVER PLAYED PH???? GO OUT RIGHT NOW AND BUY IT! NOW!!
but seriously that game rocks

From the videos it's pretty clear that you don't draw the tracks like that. There are intersections where you have to choose a path. No reason for anyone to draw a path he isn't going to take.

I'm gonna get ST the first day it's out!
I have a good feeling that this will be one of the best handheld Zeldas ever!
But, I wonder, what will be Link's quest in this game?

Outrunner

I like the look of it in the trailer but the news that they're making it easier makes me uneasy. PH was too easy already so... hmmm.

...Why a train?...lol
First time ever I've seen a train in a Zelda game, but chances are I'm going to enjoy this game anyways, lol.
