Topic: Supposed 3DS Prototype

Gallery found it on Kotaku, apparently, it could be the prototype for the 3DS, what do you think about it?

For me, it looks like a bad design because it looks like it'd be too top heavy.

Technically 3DS would stand for Three Dimesional Screen

Obviously its a fake. If it is the next DS which stands for DUAL SCREEN then it must have more then 1 screen. Second, it doesnt look real, looks too realistic. Looks like an ipad like design.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks it looks horrible. I mean, the Game Boy style orientation looks alright, but the other one makes it look like an older Korean cell phone. I also don't get where the L and R buttons are, would it be those nubs on the face of the machine?

Totally not real. Or a prototype. Unless Nintendo's gone "you know how we spent ages making buttons that just feel right on the DS? F*** it, lets go back with rounded smooth ones that are kinda uncomfortable to use for long periods of time. And remember those plastic ridge things that were popular in the 80s but look reaaaaaally outdated now and get crammed full of dirt? Lets totally put some of those on the side for no reason at all."

i'm not going to begin to speculate on it's validity, but regardless, the thing is cool. i'd be in line to buy one, i can promise you that.

A guy on the comments section of Kotaku has a very good point:

Cool concept, but not a feasible one for a 3D handheld. Since the 3D effect will be implemented with an autostereoscopic display, it would not be possible to rotate the device 90 degrees and get a proper 3D image. The screen might not look right at all if you rotate it 90 degrees.

lol terrible fake attempt. But the creator of this lame fake Prototype must be having a good day since Kotaku was dumb enough to post this on their site, so now it's gone bat nuts Online. So therefor, he was successful

Looks stupid to me

Umm...looks like a photoshopped iPad. Ironically, the buttons in those pictures look distinctly 2D...like they'd been painted on!

The actual device looks quite real, but the screenshots and the game cartridge look almost laughably Photoshopped. It's probably something that the creator physically made and then Photoshopped some screenshots onto the device. Anyway (real or not), way to go guy! You've successfully bastardized Nintendo/made a pretty good mock-up!

@Raylax It's possible that you would have to keep the screen flipped one side in order to play a 3DS game while flip it another to play DS games. Just sayin'...

EDIT: Looking at the pictures again, I notice that there's not screen reflecting at all. It's obviously a fake.

The screen, yes id give you that. Anything else, probs even the table is photoshopped.

Wasn't one of the few tidbits on the 3DS that it had two screens that could function as one when placed close together?

If it's the real thing...I'm pretty hoping that's not gonna look even close to the retail...
