Man, you shouldn't have posted the topic like that. It comes out looking like breaking news instead of another theoretical conversation.
Anyway, I think Brawl on DS would be pointless. A new, different Smash would be a great idea, though. One where they stop dropping characters, however redundent. I miss Young Link, and don't think Toon Link does quite a good enough job replacing him. Still have no idea why Mewtwo was taken out. Dr. Mario was probably the least necessary redundent character, next to Pichu. Even so, I'd be glad to have them ALL back!

Yes, I do. It can be done right on the DS. As proven by games like Bleach, 4-player melees can be done on the DS quite well, and I wouldn't mind seeing this done on a handheld.

I miss Mewtwo, I guess he's the only one I wish they'd bring back...but I don't think a Smash Bros. game would work well on the DS. I just can't see it happening....

Keep it PG-13-ish.
i don't see why it wouldn't work, it has plenty of buttons for it plus the touchscreen, and they could go for a N64-style graphics rendering of the characters to give it some nostalgic flair.
But I'm just saying this because i really want a Smash Bros. game for DS/DSi
I would LOVE to have a ssb for ds I'm actually very surprised one still hasn't been released! They could just do what they did with super mario 64 ds but have WI-FI!!!!!
Call me crazy, but I want the next SSB to be for the DS and be called Super Smash Bros. RPG. It could be a majorly revamped, reworked and fine-tuned extension of the Subspace Emissary, or something totally different. All I know is that it better have shops experience points! It could even feature a Super Mario Strikers art style (like the box art).
Lieutenant Commander of the Lesbian Love Brigade
There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

RPG means it has to have a story. Wow I want to see that story where they explain how and why an italian mushroom addict plumber, a little green dressed boy with sword and shield, a space fox with a laser handgun, a pink rubber ball whose passion is eating EVERYTHING and a space bounty hunter who can transform into a ball come into one world and beat each other up.
P.S: Whoever can tell me which 5 Nintendo characters I wrote about in my post gets a cookie..
No but seriously changing SSB into an RPG? Not a good idea...
Not changing... Just experimenting. Nintendo already went in that direction with SSBB's Adventure mode.
May I ask what's wrong with just playing Brawl. And whoever said the controls would suck, the DS has a D-Pad. Brawl is a fighter. I wouldn't mind using a DS to control brawl on the big screen...
I thought putting Smash Bros. on the DS would have been a no brainer for Nintendo. With the maticulous care they've given the franchise to make it as incredible as it is. Obviously it wouldn't be as massive as Brawl is on the Wii but they could make up for it by maybe adding exclusive characters or other content. But when it comes down to it, just think about it. Having an online multiplayer experience like Smash and being able to take it with you anywhere. The game would sell out for a year.
I've actually thought about a Smash character-mash-type RPG before. Or a TV show (like Captain N, but not horribly cheesy). 'Cause that would be AWESOME!
