I was very disappointed in Super Scribblenauts. Many levels were just too dull and I often felt "too creative" for the game as there were some levels which broke (literally) when you didn't use the "mainstream solution". In addition, why would they play the music randomly instead of assigning certain tracks to certain levels? I also found most of the music to be ruined (the remixed ones).
It's an awesome game, but as a huge fan of the first game I was very let down.

I have to agree with your complaints. The puzzles in this game are seriously lackluster compared to the open-ended, creative puzzles from the first one.

I also felt that the first game had better puzzles(although confusing at times), but I also felt that the action stages (although lacking in numbers) in this game were well crafted and made me think out a plan. There were a good deal of puzzles that can be pretty challenging during challenge mode. As a Scribble-fan, I wasn't one bit disappointed with this game, mainly because while the levels may be on the easy-side, everything that was wrong with the first game has been fixed. Also, Scribblenauts is all about the sandbox.
EDIT: I liked a couple of the new tracks in this game. The random music was a great idea for the title screen (better than hearing that "same song" in the first game), it was odd in the levels. Especially for the level creator, where maybe a certain piece of music would perfectly suit your level.
I don't know if it's just my copy, but it keeps freezing. When it changes songs midlevel, the whole game turns off the sound and lags for about a second. It's also hard frozen twice. Plus, I'm almost completely done with the merits, and I've finished the game, so I may sadly be turning this one in.
I've made a huge mistake.

I'm okay with the sandbox having random music, but with the rest of the game it's just ridiculous.

For the freezing, is it just this game? Or others too. If you use an unauthorized card (for this game or others), sometimes it can stretch out the card thing in the DS. Just put another cartridge in overnight, it should fix that.
Borrowing it from a friend and it's hilariously better than the first one (a bunch of simple design decisions changed and BAM--a way better game); great all around. Also, pregnant babies!
I definitely prefer this one over the first game, simply because of the adjectives, which open up lots of possibilities and the fact that they added button controls for Maxwell.
(BTW: I can't believe how many internet memes there are in those games that work. Try "I see what you did there" or "keyboard cat". )
