Topic: Stupid DS title "puns"

Today, I just noticed something. It seems that for some games when that series landed on the ds, they just had to make names that were "clever", and the initials for the subtitles had to be ds. Here are the ones I'm talking about: Advance Wars: Dual Strike, Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow, Bleach: Dark Souls, Contra: Dual Spirits (alternate title to contra 4) Lunar: Dragon Song, Mr. Driller: Drill Spirits, Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword, Peggle: Dual Shot, Resident Evil: Deadly Silence, and Tenchu: Dark Secret. I think these all have annoying titles. The developers just had to go and name their games like that...

Kind of like how games on the Nintendo 64 had "64" in them?

No No No, Wrong Way!

Hey, at least it's better than hanging DS on the end for no good reason whatsoever, i.e. Tetris DS, Mario Kart DS, Yoshi's Island DS. Now that's retarded.

It's just like tacking "Super" on every SNES game, "64" on all N64 games....Gamecube was pretty much the only thing that didn't have something like that. (Excluding the Game Boys.)

HAHA, anyone wanna play Mario Kart Cube? XD

You hadn't noticed this before? I first noticed years ago, and various gaming media outlets have commented on it since the DS launch.

I agree that it's not as dumb as putting "64" or "Super" in a game's title, though. Shows SOME originality, at least.

My Backloggery Updated sporadically. Got my important online ID's on there, anyway. :P

Actually, that's not true. Tons of GBA games liked to have "advance" at the end, like Rayman Advance, Super Mario Advance, Sonic Advance, ect.

I've noticed this too (ages ago ), but at least people these days are making something clever out of the system's suffix, instead of blindly slapping it at the end of every title.

It's like realising your not wearing clothes in public for 5 years...

Also: Derek Stiles. Not just because of his initials, but also because his last name sounds like stylus.

Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow has a good excuse though, with its predecessor being "Aria of Sorrow". So, Konami only had to think of what to use the "D" for.

And Bleach: Dark souls actually relates to the plot (yeah, I was stunned when I got to that point in the story. I thought it was tacked on too)

I remember wondering if they were ever going to release an "Ultra Mario Bros."

I use the same username on TVTropes and youtube. look me up!
