I don't know what it's called but the camera function is amazingly cool. Dunno if it's made by Nintendo or not though. 500 points there, I hope it comes here. With an app store I find myself attracted to the more unique DSiWare offerings like this one.
Yes, that was mentioned here this morning on the Japanese update news item. I'll repeat what I said there regarding my hopes for this sort of tech:
"I hope that this is the sort of thing for which Nintendo uses the new motion sensor in the DS2 combined with a front facing camera, perhaps even natively building that sort of head-tracking movement into the system's API. That would be a real "wow" moment sufficient to show that it's a real step beyond the iPhone for gaming."

Whats a DS2?
Well, it's nothing actually, because the DS successor is still a long ways off and certainly won't go by that name, but you know what I mean. It's the unnamed-thing-to-replace-the-DS-one-day, which will evidently have a motion sensor, according to current reports, and which I'm hoping will include a front-facing camera for some fancy head tracking as well.
I just watched the video - holy cow! I did not know the DSi had the capability to pull that off. Oh PLEASE bring that to the states. That is an instant download for sure. And that would be a great way to get people to upgrade from their Lites.
I want Paper Mario DSi, using this effect and whole pop-up book aesthetic.
I dont think a Paper Mario game could fit into the 20MB limit on DSiWare, though perhaps they could do a cartridge release like Konami's doing with Foto Showdon, though that may upset regular DS owners.
I'm not typically a fan of "find the hidden object" games, but I would definitely buy this the minute it hit DSiWare. That is one damn cool feature, and I hope other developers figure out some creative ways to utilize it.
