"British tabloid the Daily Mail has highlighted the dangers of Nintendo's pet sim Nintendogs, following an animal attack on a 9-year-old girl.
Megan Walker was mauled by Saracen, a bull mastiff, while playing the game at a friend's house. The dog dragged Megan from the sofa and sank its teeth into the girl's face, removing her lip.
The Daily Mail attributes the attack to the sounds of barking emanating from Megan's DS "game station" during a bout of Nintendogs.
The girl's grandmother, Jean Taylor, told the paper, "I think this game should carry some kind of warning. People should be told not to play it when there are dogs in the room. I blame the game for what happened to Megan. If they hadn't been playing it I don't think the dog would have gone for her."
The Daily Mail concludes that the friend's mother was unavailable for comment, but "it is understood that she told police that Megan may have kicked Saracen and that is why he attacked her".
Doctors managed to re-attach Megan's lip following the attack and the dog was later destroyed."
"Dog was later destroyed." Seriously...WTF?! lol

Keep it PG-13-ish.
in the US, at least, big dogs involved in attacks on people are usually (or sometimes? may depend on circumstances) put down afterward; i think it's the law in some areas. idk about the UK, it could be the same way there too for large breeds.
that said, I think the bigger issue is 'who left the 9-year-old alone with a big bull mastiff'? it's a hard way to learn not to kick a dog, i guess... the parents should've taught her that a long time ago. :/

lol, I love how they blame an external source. Also, it is very likely the kid kicked the dog; that kind of stuff seems to happen a lot with kids; they don't always learn until something like that happens.

Even if the game were for some reason the cause (which I doubt, especially with the "well, MAYBE she kicked the dog....."), you could also make the argument that any movie, TV show, or what-have-you that has a dog's barking in it should come with a "warning" as well. This isn't the first thing that produces a dog noise without a real dog there.

It isn't like they all hate games, but because games aren't a common media among even people in their 30's and up. Somewhere in there, it is only the past few years where games have become such a huge tank and nobody is used to it. If you have the choice of convicting an old friend or a complete stranger for murder, the majority of people will be biased against the stranger. The same reasoning can be applied behind this situation. They are blaming an external source; they are more likely to use such a neutralization technique when the external source is unfamiliar.

I'm no animal rights nut or anything, but i hate when animals are "destroyed" (and yes, that is the term generally used in this context) for being animals. It's fairly standard practice, unfortunately.
Meanwhile, it's unfortunate what happened to girl, but the whole thing (that it's the fault of the game) is beyond ridiculous.
@theshpydar - I agree with you. If whoever is sueing Nintendo honestly believes that Nintendo should put a warning on Nintendogs that something like this could happen or expects Nintendo to do research into finding non-threatening dog barks, that person(s) is beyond delusional.
Now the Daily Mail (and all the other panic rags) can associate all videogames with violence and something that ought to be banned.
That would be if the paper's angle was demonising games, but I don't think it is.
While the comments on the article itself (Source) seem to range from the usual "poor angel RIP" to "KILL ALL DOGS", I reckon their angle is more "aren't violent dogs unsuitable pets" or "don't leave your young relative with a vicious dog".
Unfortunately, this sort of thing - young kids being mauled (and sometimes killed) by vicious pet dogs - happens all the time in Britain.
BTW. Has anyone tried looking at comments to stories on IGN - They're full of spam!

A second dog attacked Saracen, to protect Megan. The dog in question was not a banned or regulated breed and its owner signed it over for destruction.
