I saw the score for the new Popstar game. It sounds interesting. I am a 25 year old male and I want to know if someone like me would have fun with it or is it strictly targeted toward females?

I hear it's good, not worth my 800 though, but that's just my opinion.

I'm also not sure if I should invest 800 points on this game. I shall see what DSiWare will be released in the next couple of weeks. It doesn't run away, does it

Im 31 and male and bought it when it became availaible.
The game reminds me of 'The Urbz' and has a few minigames that you can unlock and play anytime from the main menu even multiplayer so you can make a band.
What you get for 800 points is a lighter version of the sims, a Drum Game and Guitar Game that are similar to Guitar Hero games, a dancing game which is like a touchscreen version of DDR and a singing game which is really hard as you dont actually sing but instead have to use your stylus to draw along lines in time to the music. The game also features a couple of DSI features which arent really important to the game, but they are there.
Other mini games that are featured in the main game but that are not available from the main menu are pretty much what you get in most brain training games like matching pairs and building burgers to order. All in all £6 / 800 points is nothing for the amount of content in this game.

I'd like to hear more on the touch-screen DDR. Heh heh.
Anyway, if I had a DSi, I'd get it.

Iv'e been wondering the same thing. I think i will get it in 1 and a half hours when it becomes available. I'll probably keep it at the end of the menu though, i think i would die if my friends found that on my DSi.

The touchscreen DDR is a funny little mini-game where your little character is dancing in the bottom middle of the sreen and you have 5 small circles in an arch above your character. Little balls move from your character and you have to touch which ever of the the 5 small circles that they cross in time to the music (which is cheesy)
If you are successful your little dude builds up a combo and dances at the bottom but if you miss then they start to dance badly.
In the main game you can challenge others to dance and both characters dance at the bottom of the screen instead.

This makes an entertaining minigame but I wouldnt expect a full DDR-DS anytime soon.

To be honnest my favourite minigame is the Drum game. I like playing it on the hardest mode. You use the shoulder buttons (or touchscreen) and the coloured bars move down the screen just like Guitar hero. One button for the drums, one for the bass drum and you hold both for the Cymbals. Its pretty good and I would love someone to release a full "Drum Hero" as a DSiware game with a better selection of songs than what is included in this game.

If IGN gives this a good score, I'll strongly consider getting this.

The fact that you are even asking this question troubles me.

If I were you I'd save my points for Mighty Flip Champs!

Ya but WHEN are we going to get Mighty Flip Champs??? They've been threatening to release it for a while now and it never materializes.

I usually prefer puzzle or mini-game style games for the DS, as I generally play it w/ the sound off while I'm listening to something else. BUT, for $8 PopStar looks like a lot of fun. While 800 may be one of the higher price points for downloadable games, when you compare it to the cost of retail store games, it really is a good deal.
