I was absolutely in love with this game through most of the first screen's worth of rhythm games. I have now started to get to several though that are extremely frustrating/difficult...not because they should be, but because the controls are not always as responsive as they need to be. Anyone else find this to be the case?

I almost threw my DS a couple of times during the "Big Rock Finish" and "Dog Ninja" games due to it often not recognizing my flicks...I finally got past them though. Now, I am absolutely HATING "Space Soccer" because I can't figure out where I'm supposed to match up with the beat.

Has anyone else played the game and had these types of issues?

He still says 'kick kick kick high kick-toe, kick kick kick' when you tap him on-beat even if you don't have the ball, so the more in the habit you get tapping him on the beat, the better prepared you'll be to keep the ball in the air. Space Soccer is a royal pain in the butt, i'll give you that.

If you don't like Space Soccer, though, there's a remix on the bottom screen you're going to just love... hahaha you have to keep tapping as it switches games on you or else you'll drop the ball. at least the remixes keep you on your toes by mixing it up.

Lockstep was my freaking nemesis for a while, though. that one took me forever to get right, especially because as the voice makes the noise to start you off on the downbeat, it fades, and that fading (when it starts getting hectic) sounds a lot like the pickup for you to switch to the off-beat, and in that one if you don't switch right when you have to, you're dead in the water. ugh. Once you've got it down, though, it's pretty easy.

I just tried several more times. He says that regardless of whether or not you are on beat. I am on beat with the music, but can only juggle the ball 2 or 3 times and then inevitably drop it. Once it has been dropped it is almost impossible to pick back up on the rhythm again. When the other "players" join you in a "line dance" I can be in perfect time with what they are doing and I still miss the ball over and over and over again. It is ridiculous, I'm probably only hitting about 5% of the time on this minigame. I haven't had much problem up until this one. I've got golds or perfects on most of the others.

I've found that I'm doing significantly better with my eyes closed, but still not near well enough to pass.

aargh. what i meant was that he'll still kick if you tap him on-beat, whether he's got the ball or not. it's also easier to catch the ball as it's thrown back at you if you keep tapping the screen straight through and ignore whether you actually have the ball or not. that minigame really is a pain in the rear end.

I don't know what it is about Rhythm Heaven... some games (Love Lizards, the lab one where you're shaking the vials, the dolphin-jumping one, Built to Scale 1 and 2, the dancing frogs one... Frog Hop? and Munchy Monk 2...) I made it through in one shot and medaled it. but Lockstep 1 and 2, Crop Farmer, the ping-pong ones (something Rally), Space Soccer, and one or two others it took a lot of practice for me to medal/perfect. it's weird how far the gap is between them re: ease of play.

I agree, some are a lot of fun and I've been able to get through the majority in one or two passes and medal in two or three passes. But I agree that a few like this one and Crop Farmer are several "steps" more difficult...I didn't have too much trouble on Ping Pong, but I do remember it taking a few more tries than most. I still think that part of the "difficulty" of some is due to the not always reliable controls though. Thanks for the tips. I'm slowly getting closer as long as I don't break my DS first

You are right, lockstep sucks. I'm improving quickly on that one though so can see myself mastering it. I'm definitely not looking forward to the Remix.
