I saw it's going for $20 new around here, so I'm asking for it for Christmas. I'm not much of a retro gamer, which begs the questions: Will I still enjoy it? Will it be too hard for me? Does this game rely heavily on its nostalgia factor? Will the designs of the games in it feel dated to me? Or will I see this as a great opportunity to explore the golden age of gaming I never experienced? (The above are not rhetorical.) Mm'k thanks. .3
It's pretty sweet. The difficulty isn't that high either. Some parts will be fairly difficult, but most of the game can be seen without much trouble.
It doesn't really rely on nostalgia much, the games are all pretty good in their own right. They've all been well designed and such. Although the final game I found to be the worst as there are some frustrating design choices.

All good to hear, thanks. EDIT: Oh yeah, how to the magazines and "cheat codes" work?
There's a magazines menu that you can go to, to read the magazines. The magazines are obtained automatically as you progress through story mode.
The cheat codes are often entered from the pause screen, but a few are entered from the title screen of the specific games. Most of the games can be continued from after a game over by pressing left+start.
Right now I'm probably only at 8 hours, but everything but Guadia Quest and Haggle Man 3 are complete. With Guadia Quest being a little over halfway finished, and Act II on HM3.
I'm not looking forward to completing Haggle Man 3
[anomalous[i know spelled wrong] member] so feenie bet you never got lucky in chat [feenie] ya [tbd] green gabe [feenie] yup i almost drowned in the shower afterwards
Well I completed it today, All I had was the Red Game Guadia to make a pact with in Guadia Quest, and then the last two acts in Haggle Man 3.
Haggle Man 3 went better than I expected, I expected a bit more frustration than enjoyment, but ended up getting them in relatively even quantities.
Guadia Quest was pretty fun, that Red Guadia is overpowered though, at nearly max level, were he to use his best attack twice in a row he would've instantly won. So the battle ends up being fairly luck-based, "Will the RNG screw me this time, or not?"
/me revives this thread because I just beat Retro Game Challenge and it's the best game on DS I actually liked Haggleman 3 best, with Guadia Quest a close second and the original Haggleman a distant third. I loved every game in the package. Also:
Oh yeah this game's awesome! I bought it when it first came out and its definitely on my top ten DS games.
I thought Haggleman 1 was the best game in it, with Guadia Quest being a close second and Star Prince being third. Sadly, I never finished the game. I went about halfway in Guadia Quest but couldn't stand Haggleman 2 or 3. Heck, even with cheats I couldn't beat Haggleman 2!
I forgot to look for this when I was in the States, but I doubt I would have found it anyway. Definitely something I think I should track down eventually!
