I know that the 3DS games are region blocked, but how about the DS games?

DS games are fine.
They are not region locked so you can play them on a foreign/local system.

But I've heard that DSi games are region blocked, if there's even a difference between DS and DSi.
Plus, I'm playing on a 3DS.

Yeah, DSi specific games are region locked, maybe DSi enhanced games not sure about those though.
You should be fine with your 3DS playing different region DS games.
DSi is region locked as well and so are the games, there are very few DSi only and enhanced games though.

The first DS didn't have a camera, right? So I wonder what happens if I play DSi games on a DS.

Either it won't work or some features will be omitted

(a) DS games are region-free, and can be played on any region DS, DSi, or 3DS.

(b) DSi-enhanced games will play on any region DS, but must be played on a same-region DSi or 3DS (there is no way to bypass the DSi-enhanced features).

(c) DSi games are region-locked, and must be played on a same-region DSi or 3DS.

(d) 3DS games are region-locked, and must be played on a same-region 3DS.

EDIT: Is there a way to tell the difference between a DS and a DSi game?

DS cards are gray and DSi cards are black white. The only exceptions for DS games Pokemon HeartGold/SoulSilver and Pokemon Black/White (might be others, though.) Also, the logo on the card has the little "i" with the circle next to the "DS", making it say DSi.

EDIT: Crap, I feel like an idiot.... I seriously thought DSi cards were black. Thanks, theblackdragon for pointing that out.

@Matillion: DSi-only games are easy to spot — they come in white cartridges (in the US, at least; can anyone confirm outside the US too?) and use the DSi logo (with the little 'i' beside the 'DS', just read carefully). there were very few DSi-only titles released, though — there was System Flaw and some fighting game here in the US iirc. wasn't really interested in either one, lol :3

DSi-enhanced games you'll have to be more careful to spot... they should be marked on the boxes that they're DSi-enhanced, but if you're buying cartridge-only, just be aware that their cartridge codes supposedly start with 'TWL' (as opposed to 'NTR'... not sure if that's true for all of 'em?). there haven't been a whole lot of DSi-enhanced titles released either (mostly crap, really, IMO), but stuff like Pokemon Black and White and Sonic Classic Collection are DSi-enhanced, in case you were interested. just do your homework and be careful :3

Thanks guys! Just checked all my six games I got with my 3DS,
and White was the only DSi one, as it had this "TWL"-thing.

Good to know that there's at least something I can buy when I go to Thailand for a vacation. EDIT: It's pretty cheap thar.
Do you have any good DS recommendations? Sorry if I derail the topic.
