So i have a few questions about pop island and paperfield
Can pop island and pop island paperfield connect to each other with local play?
What's the differnce between the two?
Which one is better?
And is it worth getting both of them?

hello, @Shadow_Chad6982. I can answer all of your questions to pop island (both the original and paperfield) because I own both versions of the game, so here you go:
-Can pop island and pop island paperfield connect to each other with local play?
ans.: no, but there is download play available which can get a maximum of 8 players in total to play against each other! (and download play can work with all types of DS's). So if your friend has pop island and you have pop island paperfield, then you both can play pop island and paperfield (by using DS download play)

-What's the differnce between the two?
ans.: The difference is that pop island costs 500 DSi points and pop island paperfield costs 200 DSi points. What about the amount of content in both? Well obviously, pop island has more content than paperfield. Pop island has 8 levels and 12 characters, while pop island paperfield has 3 levels and 8 characters (some of the characters are in both games, such as the surfing penguin and the skateboarding Mammoth, and some others are available in one the games by itself. For example, the Tank is only in pop island paperfield, and the lion is only in pop island). But if you own both games, you can unlock three more levels and 4 more characters in pop island paperfield!!!!!! cool huh?

-Which one is better?
ans.: Hard to answer, but if you want a pop island which is cheap in price, then of course paperfield is the one to get. But if you don't care about the price but care about the amount of content available in the game, then pop island is for you (Note: There is no difference in gameplay of both games, so nothing to worry about).

Finally:
-And is it worth getting both of them?
ans.: I would have to say.............. YES

I hope I answered all your questions Friend, and you can ask me more about the game at anytime. Thank You

It's only flaw is the lack of online play, otherwise its one of my favourite downloads!

Nice! I recently downloaded Pop Island Paperfield and really enjoyed the game - it's a great way to spend $2, especially if you have friends with DS/DSi/3DS consoles also! But I didn't know that having the original game would unlock extra content. Hmm... very tempting.

Got a question, got both games, beat paperfield (got 3 levels locked but heard you could only get them if you own the original game) but theres no extra content on paperfield but I still got to beat the original game, so if I beat the original will I get the extra content and will you be able to use it in solo?

I have a question, if someone has a DSiWare game with download play. Would someone that has a DS/DS Lite be able to use download play? Essentially having a DSiWare game on a normal DS for a short period of time?

ya, did it before and its no different from download playing from a dsi or 3ds.

It works for Pop Island and Pop Island: Paperfield.

I don't know about any other DSiWare games with download play, but I assume those that do don't utilize any of the DSi's special capabilities (camera, faster processor, RAM, SD Card)

@undead_terror - Regarding your original question (unlockables in the Pop Island games), I'd try looking on other forums to see if some people there know how that works (I don't personally despite owning both titles), and if that doesn't work, try contacting them and see if you can get an answer about it from the source. I'm not sure how you'd go about doing that though, since their website is crap and I can't find anything else on them besides their youtube channel.

Exactly.

I realize a lot of questions have already been answered, but odenis studios games are my FAVOURITE DSiWare releases, so I am inclined to talk about them!

Basically, if you own either game, you can share the game with up to 8 other people using Download Play for local multiplayer. all of the multiplayer features are still present, and as long as they don't turn off the system, quit the game, or run out of battery life, there are even a few single player levels available for them to play if they want. I've done it with other DS, DSi, and 3DS systems, and it works this way on all of them.

If you're curious about the game, I highly recommend getting Paperfield first, since it is only 200 Points / $1.99, and see how you like it. If you love it (which I'm sure you will) then investing in the original is a great idea.

As far as the unlockables go, Paperfield benefits a lot more from this than Pop Island. I believe Pop Island starts off with six stages, and getting Paperfield gives you an additional 2. I may be wrong about this as well, but I think in those six stages there are 12 different animals you can play as, whereas paperfield also adds two more to the cast.

Paperfield on its own has three stages, but then gets three additional stages if you own both games! I also believe the number of animals playable vehicles goes from 6 to 12. The number of playable vehicles doesn't matter much though, since in each stage you always only have 6 to choose from anyway.

Overall, it's a great investment. In total about $7 gives you way more content than you could ever expect from spending so little. And who knows, maybe Pop Island 3D will add even more fun to the mix!

I dont know if anyone will see this, since the last post is 3 years old, but whatever. I bought both games, but when i do download play, the other device wont show the three extra maps as options. If i start a match, we both play two seperate games, but can control our character in each! I play on the bonus map, while he plays an alternate match on a standard map. Does anyone know how to fix this?
