Ha ha, would love to face you if I could.

It does mention the stylus controls in the manual, but earlier on than you would expect any useful information to appear.

So far my high score is 172. Does anyone know how the scoring works? It doesn't seem to show your score while you're playing, so I have no idea what awards points and what doesn't and can you lose points by being hit?

In the very first tab, right? I saw it mentioned Tapping and Sliding but that doesn't really tell me how to play the game using stylus controls. Unless that's not what you're referring to.

Scoring is based on the number of flags you bring back and pops you make. (Assumption.)

I would just like to scientifically confirm KnucklesSonic8's theory. I haven't gotten to Paperfield yet, but because that it is the successor to Pop Island, I know that they both have the same stylus controls and interface, and to move you drag (aka slide) the stylus around on the map, pinpointing where you want to go. Scoring is indeed based on how much you blast (and hit your target, mind you) and how many flags you bring back, so I would say that that aspect of the game brings out the shooter within.

Did that help?!

The original had stylus controls? I had no idea this whole time.

Eel

there are only 3 maps?

well mine started with 6 maps and about the same amount of characters than the first one... but then again, i have both xD
i moved the original to the SD after it, though, i no longer need it, i guess.

i knew about the stylus controls since the original, but...

Yeah, it doesn't really explain the touch screen controls in the manual. It just mentions that there are touch screen controls in the "general information" section and then in the "getting started" section it mentions you can also move with the touch screen in the "control your characters" section.

I tried testing random things to see what works and what doesn't. Picking up items or flags gives no points. Shooting opponents or getting flags to your goal gives you points. It seems you get more points for hitting opponents that have flags than those that don't, because I got very few points when I only shot people without flags -- might only be 1 point per hit.

I'm up to 188 for high score now.

@abgar: Only 3 for those who don't have the original.

So you tested that out by picking up a flag, and then waiting for the match to finish to see how many points you got?

maybe i should add that, unlike the original, the game is in spanish too...

And the instructions are as well
but in HORRIBLY translated spanish.

This is what i thought was cool.

The new vehicals, the tank, the jet, the boat tank, and the jeep all contol diffrently form colerful rainbow.

For example, on land the tank is the fastest but he has a very low jump and loose controls, making him a bbit hard to steer.

The Jet, or Corbie lol, is always fast except when it has a falg, then it moves slower so its ideal for attacking and protecting flags, just not carrying them.

The Boat thing travels well on land and water, only a bit faster in the water tho, and also has the higest possible jump.

and the jeep ive so far only played one game with,so not sure if its diffrent other than being slower than the tank , but with tighter friction, and a higher jump.

anyhway, thats what i think is cool.

Yeah, I just picked up flags and waited for people to hit me and then picked up another flag. Surprisingly, I only got hit twice just sitting still, because 3 enemies would circle me and be unable to aim directly at me (my team also won by a landslide, since the other side was wasting 3 players just to target me). Then I later discovered you can actually quit a game and it will show you how many points you earned, so you don't even have to wait the 3 minutes.

oh and unlike the origanal you unlock stuff a lot more quicker, due to the fact that they give you a bonus of like 300 now.

@grumblegrumble: You know that there are stylus controls, right? That might help if your fingers feel strained, and will help you concentrate on the game. You should just go to a where a flag is, even if someone already took it, and plant yourself near the pole. When the flag is inserted into either base, you will automatically have the flag in your possession.

Some tips:

I tend to go after opposing team members that are already carrying a flag. This not only keeps them from scoring it, but I allows me a good passage back to my base. Or you could always stand guard at the opposing teams base and hit them with firecrackers as they come to try to score their flags and you take them for yourself.

Plain old gamer :)

Yeah, the flags always pop up in the same spots, so just wait for them. If you see an enemy with a flag, go for that enemy. Also, you can shoot enemies out of the way if they're going to reach a flag before you.

Also, something I didn't realize at first is there are faint roads that the land vehicles travel on faster, and you can make the penguin go a little faster on land by holding A to hop or avoid that entirely by leaping out of the water to cover a bunch of ground.

I saw those, thank you guys! I will definitely try all that out. I can't believe this game is only 200 points. What a bargain! If you put both games on your DSi and off the SD card I think you get unlocked vehicles and such (I recall hearing.) Has anyone out there done this yet? A+

@grumblegrumble

With the first vehicle, it basically goes twice as fast on roads. So I recommend sticking with d-pad so you can drive straight on roads easier. Don't really worry about shooting anyone, just make a straight line or L for one of the two closest flags and bring it back to your base ASAP. Repeat. The light blue flags on the map are the ones you can take. Red is carried by enemy, dark blue is carried by teammate.

Then, once you unlock the second map and have a few more vehicles, do the opposite of what I said
