I can't go left out of Cerulean City to get back to Route 2 and get Flash. Am I missing a path or am I going to have to do Rock Tunnel blind? :(

I did it blind, it took a while to find the end. It is possible, but I would use Diglett's cave.

The road to Vermilion is closed and the guard is thirsty. Can I get him anything to drink before going through Rock Tunnel?

Isn't Flash unnecessary? I seem to recall just turning the screen's brightness on high and being able to see well enough. Could be it was a schoolyard lie that I told so often I came to believe it myself, but I don't think that was the case.

Pretty sure turning the brightness up wouldn't change anything. This is an original Game Boy game with only four "colors". :)

I can't remember if FIRE Red was any different, but I think that version also made the "dark" areas solid black.

I was playing on an emulator (I do own the game, don't worry, but no Game Boy anymore) so I could have turned up the brightness. I wanted to do it right though! Anyway, thanks for all your help, I finished the game last night and you can all consider yourselves partly responsible for this: http://www.nintendolife.com/forums/general_discussion/eye_of_...
