Oh well..... Online would've rocked!

The only way I had fun with PictoChat is my yearly birthday message, and creating flipbooks (before Flipnote Studio came around). No way I'm finding 16 DS/DSi systems to have fun in a 30 ft range.

Lol, but remember, there is 4 chatrooms, so that is a total of 64 people with a DS(i) In a 65 foot radius

While it sounds like a cool concept, untimately an online-Pictochat has too many flaws and would be too hard to regulate to make it safe enough to let it in the hands of little kids.

I don't know why, but I'm actually remembering VMK, Disney's free online MMO targeted towards kids, when I think. In an attempt to prevent people like pedophiles, kidnappers and whatnot from getting into contact with kids outside of VMK, a lot of words that could reveal info about a person in real life were banned from being used in VMK. This created a problem when some of those words that had non-personal uses couldn't be used, most notably numbers. This lead to many of the players in VMK trying to find ways around this system. The most notable way was known as "dictionary dancing," where homophones (like weather and whether) or closely-related words spelling-wise were substituted for the actual words, with "on" becoming one, "to" becoming two, and so on. While moderators could ban you for doing this, they were ridiculously easy to spot due to their moderator-only clothing and the swarms of people surrounding them wherever they went, as they were so few of them that they were more like celebrities than actual moderators, kind of like Shaq being a cop.

Anyway, if Nintendo has plans to include an online Pictochat in the 3DS or another future console, they have a lot of things they need to work on to make it safe for children to use while still making it fun or worthwhile to use.

Exactly.
