I've had N+ for almost a year now, and I've come to the conclusion that this is my favorite DS platformer. Yes, I own NSMB, Mario 64, the Sonic games, and even Henry Hatsworth. In terms of level design and solid control, N+ leaves them far behind. It also sports over 300 levels, a level editor, statistics, and even co-op multi-player.
If you haven't tried it, or more likely haven't heard of it, check out my review here. On IGN it has an average rating of 9.8/10 out of 153 user ratings, and IGN themselves gave it a 9.0/10. If you're interested, it's available on Amazon for a paltry $15.34.
I've looked at this game, held it in my hands, almost made the purchase but I got burned bad by all the hype with Bangai O Spirits with its gameplay, level design, length, etc...that game made me cautious of little heard of/much hyped games because it is terrible.
I love your site pixelman, nice little review too. I've played this game to death on the PC, for free, is it very different or the same thing just on DS?
@Machu: Thanks. The physics are a tad different, the graphics were improved a bit, and the levels are completely new. Other than that it plays exactly like the PC version.
I love the one on the PC, the map making feature makes it last forever. I might get the DS one if it's cheap. How different are the physics? Might be hard to adjust to them if they're too different.
I've played N Plus on XBLA. I loved the 2-player races. I used to play the freeware version, but it never really grabbed me. I'm more a Jumper fan. But adding multi-player to the Plus version made me enjoy N again.
@NeoRausch: Yes, in my opinion it is the best platformer on the DS. I don't think it was ever released outside of the US, so you'll probably have to import it
@tambourine+man: It's available new on amazon for $15.34. Link's in my top post.
