Topic: Nintendo should come out with an analog stick peripheral

There should be an analog stick that you plug into the GBA slot of the DS so that you can play games like Super Mario 64 DS the way they were meant to be played. Granted, they'd have to redo them to be compatible, but that'd be good since everyone would have to buy them again.

COMPATIBLE GAMES

Super Mario 64 DS
Star Fox Command
Diddy Kong Racing DS
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Mario Kart DS

I'd get these in a heartbeat, because using the stylus gives me wrist cramps. Also, 3D racing games don't work well with the D-pad.

i like the idea, but i think it would just make holding the system awkward. i definitely think it (or at least a PSP-like stub) should be included in the next Nintendo handheld, however.

Nintendo should also release a CC with rumble and upgrades for the N64 games on VC that support it (or just the upgrades to the VC games and maybe some sweet white GCN controllers like they sell in Japan).

I am way too lazy to think of something clever.

I think an analog stick is great idea, but not as an GBA-slot peripheral because that wouldn't be compatible with the DSi or the new DSi XL.

Umm, no. "The way the games were meant to be played" is the way that they are played.

Besides, it's a portable system, why would you want plug-in peripheral?

Urban Champion is GLORIOUS.

I doubt they'd risk people not buying the more expensive DSi or DSixl. Still, I'd rather have it included in the next system.

Just let it happen.

redo all those games, when they would be incompatible with their newer hardware, it would make no sense to divide DS owners further.

Perhaps its time to reinvent the wheel (or rather, the d-pad). How about making it pressure-sensitive on the next console, Ninty? Keep the 'click' too, but let the character move based on where your finger is on the d-pad and how much pressure you're putting on it. Remember the L/R buttons on the GC controller? Sort of like that, but obviously flat. If done correctly, you may just get the simplicity and compactness of a D-Pad matched with the sensitivity and accuracy of an analogue stick. And you don't get the cramping complaints of a PSP-style thumbstick, nor will it get clogged up with muck.
Just my 2 cents.

I could see them coming up with some sort of analog stick that clips on the DS and covers the d-pad (or buttons for lefties). I'm not really sure of the necessity though.

I think you need to stop making a topic every time you have an idea, why not make a big idea topic instead of hoving dozens of topics?

Also Mario Kart DS controls phenomenally.

THIS.

Anyway, perhaps the 3DS will have a joystick.

HolyMackerel

I'd hate to have it as a GBA slot peripheral. I suppose you normally put your left thumb beneath the GBA slot while you're playing DS games, hmm?

It would only work if it was built in to the console like the PSP's analogue stub.

I'll personally just be waiting for the 3DS.
