Hello, I bought a refurbished DS Phat at Gamestop, and when I first saw it, the tiny Nintendo emblem was missing on the top screen. Can anyone explain this? Is the console shell third-party? Also, it does work perfectly, any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
It's what it says on the box: "refurbished". It probably had it's top back cover plate crack at some point so they replaced it with a third party shell like you said.
It has all the official engravings on the bottom shell, it's just that the tiny "Nintendo" plate on the front is gone with the plate depression in it's place.

If it has the engravings on the bottom, then it's the original shell. The original owner probably removed the plate.
@SuperMalleo Why do you keep talking about the sticker/plate? There is literally nothing there, just an empty depression, which looks like it's in need of something in its place. The inside of it is the same color/material of the rest of the top shell. You know what I mean. Bump.

There's a hole where the plate used to be - fill it with something! See if you can take one off a broken DS, or just put something completely original there. There's not really any more help we can offer.
@nacho_chicken That is a great idea and I have no idea why I never even really thought of that. Thanks for giving me a senseful slap in the face, sometimes people need the obvious thing to do presented right in front of them, so that's appreciated. (No sarcasm)
