oh darn, and once the hackers figure out how to run emulators on the dsi, nintendo won't make any money off of gb games at all.

This is old news and I've been saying it won't be available for a while.

Dude if nintendo even did that would be such a waste of time. Only VHH (vitural hand helds) games that would be there is Gameboy Color And Advance. 2 hand helds, compared to you know maybe 20 vc systems on the wii?

OnSlaught: 5413-7666-7628

20? Slight exaggeration. I think it's about 8. And it has third-party consoles, too, if you didn't notice. DSi VC could do the same. Neo Geo Pocket, Sega Game Gear... any of these ringing any bells? The shop does have a DSiWare section, implying that there should be another section to choose from someday. Plus, the DSi does contain the GBA hardware, according to tech people, so it has to be in there for something.

Personally, I think the smaller selection would be to the system's benefit. We'd get the games we'd want faster (well, maybe. The Game Boy Classic had an enormous library).

Since there is no GBA slot but it still has the capability of natively running GBA games (according to people who know this sort of stuff -- I certainly don't, so if I'm misinformed, let me know), my guess is they're working on getting GBA games ready for download rather than a full-fledged VC supporting multiple systems, which would only lead to the same mess the Wii's VC is in -- many, many more consoles than they could ever practically expect to support to everyone's satisfaction.

The one thing that gives me hope is that Nintendo said, over and over and over again, that they would not give us the ability to run VC/WiiWare from the SD card. We were specifically told that they weren't planning it, and that it wouldn't happen.

Then, all of a sudden, it happened.

With Nintendo, especially this generation, it seems an answer of "no" really just means "not now." Fingers crossed anyway.

All I can say is that if Nintendo keeps it up.....they will have one less big money spending gamer buying their products.

Chicken, the games don't run off the SD card. They just automated the copy and delete process we were previously going through. I know it's technical, but Nintendo said what they meant and meant what they said, even if they did end up tricking us through a loophole.

They didn't want games run directly off the SD card due to concerns about piracy, so while the difference between what they said they wouldn't do and what they actually did may seem slight, but it does make a significant difference on their side of the issue.

Not that this doesn't mean they couldn't change their minds on this. Plus, they said no current plans, not "it's never gonna happen."

That's fine by me. While I have ached to play older games only available on the GBA capable systems (older ds or original gba systems) it is very inexpensive to just buy the old gba system ($30) on craigslist or ebay and games to go along with it. Very very cheap. Gamestop still sells GBA used games...

Friend Code: 4511-0578-9918 Fan of: Zelda, Mario, Pac-Man, Metroid, Capt Toad, the list goes on. Love all systems: GBA, GBA SE, NES, Gameboy, 3DS, N64, Super Nintendo, etc, Atari, etc.

Maybe they are holding out on us because the DS and DSLite can play gameboy color (I think) and GBA games, and they want the DSLite to keep selling. Just a Guess thought.

The more they make people wait, the more people will buy the incredibly cheap you know what carts that'll let you play emulators.

It's Nintendo's loss for being so stupid, so whatever. Their whole online system kind of sucks anyways.
