Topic: Nintendo announces 3DS

What does it mean, 3D? Does it mean the images project off the screen (I don't see how that's possible without the glasses) or will it be like that game Sean gave us a look at, which moves the screen to correspond with movement of the DS?
On a semi-related note, there's some model software called 3DS max (yes I know it's just a code name for now).

sorry i cant link,but kotaku.com have a youtube japanese video,using a DSi and tilting the DS you had a 3D room like 3D cards and 3D posters you turn them to see the detail.

I don't know if someone has already posted this information, but the 3DS will have an analog stick, rumble, and accelerometer

An analog stick? Just one? Fail on you Nintendo. Two sticks or none. Sure Sony ripped off your motion-control gimmick but that doesn't mean you have to ripoff the absolute worst part of the PSP.

I read somewhere that it will probably have a special layer on the screen that makes each eye see something different, resulting in 3D.

Remember N64? And how epicly useful its ONE joystick was?

I'm pretty sure nintendo is just trying to appeal to fans, not to steal the PSP audience.

Yes!.....Oh, yeah, I just got the dsi like in may and now Nintendo drops the bombshell on me. Come on Nintendo, you could of gave me a heads up about the 3DS. Well, at least I have enough time to save my money and get it. I don't think I gonna sell my dsi though. I'm just wondering what's going to happen at E3. Man, I am so excited. This has made my day!

Bleh. This seems like a bad move to me. I'm not into portables so much, but I was interested in someday getting the XL. Guess there's no point now!

I always end up with a headache when going to a 3D movie, VirtualBoy was a headache, I hope this isn't. lol

if i understand correctly, this will be like a "hologram" - those 3D on gamecards, but if that's the case won't the DS need to be tilted back and forth?

anyway, I'm pretty shocked, despite the rumors. I was going to pick up a Dsi XL which would have been my first handheld since the Game Boy basically... no kidding, and now I'll wait another year and skip another generation, I guess.
