What is a block in the Dsi worth? Is a megabyte?
What about the Wii's blocks? Are they worth the same?

I'm half pig, half man, and half dog.

Absolutely no idea... The Wii has 512mb (megabytes) but has over 2,000 blocks. So blocks are smaller than megabytes. o.O

I don't know how much a DSi block is, but I'd imagine the two are the same. Wii blocks are like 125 kilobytes.

Doesn't the Dsiware shop have a 20 Mb limit?

I'm half pig, half man, and half dog.

Birdman

Going off of a 20 MB limit, with 128 blocks being the largest game size and therefore 20 MB (supposedly), a DSiWare block is equivalent to .15625 or 5/32 of a MB.

Exactly.

you could always compare blocks to size on your SD card when archived, just browse the SD card with your computer :3

Well I have get a 2giga SD card, and well, I have music on it and like 48 dsiware games and the memory blocks says 9999, ALWAYS!!! WTF? I just got no answer for these. IS the SD card not working good, the DSi or wtf I really got much more than 9999 blocks?

The integer being displayed is rounded down to 9999, and will not show more. Even if there is more.
Trust me, my 32gb card is over 9999 as well.
Works fine. The DSi knows it's over 9999.

Oh, and through my own math with my smaller cards and through Google corroboration, I can say that a block is just around 128 KB.

that's not what i meant, lol... i mean you have a game, you look on the internet re: how many blocks it is, back it up onto the SD card, and then divide the size of that particular file by the number of blocks the game is. should give you the answer right there. same for WiiWare on the Wii, you could totally do the same thing.

DSiWare Blocks are 128 KB (1/8th of a MB), and the max DSiWare game size is 16 MB.

Note that if you go to Wikipedia's list of DSiWare games, the largest are 128 blocks. 128 blocks x 128 KB = 16 MB.

I'm not sure where the 20 MB limit camera from. I've seen it repeated, but mostly on forums.

It was rumoured to be a 20MB limit.

Also if you do the match, for DSiWare you have 1024 blocks for games. If Arkaein is right, which is most likely is lol. Then out of the 256MB of space on the DSi, only 131MB is available for DSiWare.
The rest must be taken up by other things like the OS, Photo, Pictochat and DS Download play apps.

131MB for DSiWare? So if all games are 16MB (a lame size by the way) You can only fit 8 games on the DSi before having to start "cleaning the fridge"
LAME. If 3DS has the same ridiculously small storage space, I'm not getting it. I feel bad for the developers because this really turns off consumers having to manage their space when they are use to just downloading a ton of stuff on things like the Wii and Iphone.

Arkaerin - The DSiWare game size being 20 MB was the only size I had heard of. Keep in mind I'm not a video game developer, nor do I plan to be in the near future, mostly because I'm still a sophomore in high school. Still, I do feel the amount of space in the DSi's system memory is still too small. Nintendo really needs to release a software update for SD card streaming.

Exactly.

It's a tad more complicated. From the wikipedia DsiWare games list and the block size (128k) you can see that 200 points have a max size of 6MB, 500 points 12MB and 800 points 16 MB.
128 blocks * 1024 = 128MB for games themselves (not including saves, firmware, pre installed software etc).

8 blocks is equal to 1mb. 8blocks times 128mb = 1024.......

ONE MB = EIGHT BLOCKS!!!!!!!
