Most if not all games have an "erase file" option when you're in the selection screen

Some games like Advance Wars Dual Strike require you to press a certain button combination at the start of the game to erase all data. If your game did not come with an instruction manual you can usually just look it up online.

it varies slightly from game to game :3

A popular Delete All Data code (and, I believe, the standard now for DSiWare games) is holding A+B+X+Y+L+R on start-up, but it varies from game to game. Some don't have one at all, so you'll just have to overwrite a previous save.

even if it doesn't have that as a DFE code, it'll still give you the option to delete save data somewhere in the options or on the save select screen. i don't think i've ever seen a game that didn't have that option somehow, whether via button code or on-screen menu, lol :3

Not always the case - Final Fantasy III DS for eg doesn't have a delete all data at all. You can't even erase old saves individually, can only start a new game and overwrite an old one.

Also, one or two games leave leftovers - Pokémon Ranger sets a flag that can't ever been reset, even through the Delete All code. It prevents you from transferring Manaphy from it more than once, so if you pick that up second-hand, chances are you can't use it to get Manaphy.

Well I have Tetris DS, and I never knew it was rare until someone on the forum said so. O_o

It was one of the first Nintendo WFC-enabled games, and the version of Tetris on the cart is really good. It was also extremely popular online for a very long time. I'm sure there are still players online even now.
