Topic: Magus (Chrono Trigger Spoilers)

Okay, that dude is freaking hard. The game is fairly easy except for a little difficulty figuring out where you need to go next. Then all of a sudden... BAM! Magus smacks you in the face and makes you his woman. Anyone got any tips on how to beat this guy?

Yeah, I have them and the triple tech. He changes his weaknesses though. I thought there may be a way to know what his weaknesses would be after you used an attack. I guess it would probably just be best to go to gamefaqs and look up a walkthrough.

He's vulnerable to whatever kind of magic he cast last. He casts Ice 2, use a Water or Ice-based attack. Lightning 2, rip into him with Chrono. Fire 2, you either do nothing or use Lucca, depending on who's in your party. Dark Matter, you can make better use of Robo's laser moves. Throughout it all, keep hitting him with the Masamune to lower his magic defence. He's really not hard if you know what to do. Keep trying, and I'm sure you can do it!

To be honest, it always took me at least 30 minutes to beat him. Maybe even hours? That's just me, though, I'm not sure about other people.

He's not particularly hard, he just has a LOT of HP. and unlimited MP apparently.

Yep, I just now got him. I think it took about 15 mins according to save times. It was a whole lot easier than the last time I tried.

How did you do it? (strategy)

The way I told him to, I'd imagine. That's what works, after all.

The way stuffgamer1 told me. I had Crono, Frog and Marle. I used Marle mainly to heal after he attacked. Once he lets his guard down or whatever to focus energy for his attack its a cakewalk.

Skip him? You can do that? Why didn't someone tell me this earlier!?!?

And yeah, Magus was a b!tch! Definitely the hardest boss I've encountered so far. My winning combination was Lucca,Frog, and Chrono. Just hit him with the Murasame a lot to lower his magic defense, and hit him with your most powerful spells/dual techs/triple techs. Use Chrono's lightning II when he has his lightning barrier, Frog's water attack when he has his Ice barrier, ect. Lucca's Napalm was particularly useful. Also make sure you bring lots of Hi-potions.

I tried using Marle before, but she hurt more than helped, cuz she kept dying.

This Magus battle isn't skippable. I think Old School got confused about something. I shan't say more for fear of excessive spoilers, though.

ya his hp is high the funny thing is his hp is 6666 the number of the beast lol
