Oh really marktheshark? Well how about THIS email I got from Nintendo today:

"Hello again, Jake.

Thanks for your e-mail. I appreciate your taking the time to share your comments with us regarding this issue. Although I don't know if the Virtual Console-style service will ever be implemented, you can be sure that your email will be forwarded on to the appropriate department for further review.

Sincerely,

That was the second response they have sent me within the past 9 hours. My original email was a slight variation of the petition thing in this thread. They told me that I should invest in a GBA SP if I want to play old GB and GBA games as they still support those systems blah blah blah. So I sent this:

"Although you support the Game Boy Advance and Gameboy Advance SP systems, it doesn't change the fact that they're almost impossible to find nowadays. No major retailer in my area supplies them. Some stores, like Gamespot, sell used systems, but they aren't very reliable, and they are in very scarce supply. Not to mention that original Game Boy games only have a 2 year battery life, so even if I were to find a Game Boy advace/Sp that could play GB games, chances are the save files on said games wouldn't work. I realize that you still do repairs on said products, but I feel that it would be a waste of money to buy a fairly expensive system that I would inevitably have to send to you guys for repair. I have been a strong supporter of Nintendo my entire life. I currently own all of your systems (except for the Gameboys obviously) including a Wii and a DSi (along with countless games as my platinum Club Nintendo membership will show).

Although you may not currently have any plans for a Virtual Console style service for the DSi, I strongly urge you to consider the wonderful opportunities that it could bring. Many Wii Fans who are long time gamers own a Wii for the soul purpose of downloading classic games via the Virtual Console. And as I've said most DS Lite/PSP owners who are skeptical of the practicality of the DSi would be willing to invest in a DSi if there was such a service provided. Think of how enticing that add campaign would be! Currently, the DSiWare lineup pales in comparison to the Apple App store lineup (although it would certainly help if you offered more free apps) and therefore it's not a real selling point. Most of DSiWare's "best" games have better versions on the iPhone/iPod touch. But what you CAN'T get on the iPhone/iPod touch are classic Nintendo handheld games. I can't imagine that such a service would do anything but boost sales, make your longtime fans happy, and introduce a new generation of more casual gamers to some of your classic games.

I'm just saying, it would be silly not to at least consider the idea"

So maybe they just sent me the email to shut me up, but it's still shocking that they actually emailed me twice in one day. Maybe they are going to think about it (or if they already are, they're starting to REALLY think about it). Either way it makes a guy like me a little happier.

That doesn't mean that a DSi Virtual Console is just gonna magically pop out of nowhere.

Yeah, I get that. Thanks for reading that closely because I clearly said "Maybe they are going to think about it (or if they already are, they're starting to REALLY think about it)"

I'm not stupid. If they do, in fact, deside to provide such a service, it'll take time. I'm just letting them know that it would be smart to do it because it'll boost DSi sales, and it's pretty much impossible to get GB GBA's these days

Why do you think almost all those other video game petitions fail?

Don't be surprised if Ninty doesn't listen to it.

Also, great job being quite rude to me when I'm just telling the truth.

It's not that I don't hate this topic or the subject. It's just that so many people think that video game petitions will work, yet most of them don't

Have fun with the petition, but don't be surprised if it doesn't work.

It is not a petition, it is a a simple email.

Rude? You assumed I thought a virtual console was going to magically pop out of nowhere, which I clearly didn't. Sorry if I sounded rude, I didn't mean to offend anyone. But I felt like YOU were being a little rude.

I think Nintendo already knows that people want the VC to happen on the DSi. However, they have their reasons for not releasing it now.

Well, our urging eventually managed to get us our own Club Nintendo, so I think this will happen, especially considering Nintendo's classic re-release nature! Remember, WiiWare wasn't out right when the Wii came out. If/When they do have a DS VC, the games should be transferable to and from the Wii, via SD cards or otherwise. Also, they should make NES games similarly transferable.

Cheezy

What Corbie said, it's likely that this will happen one day, but of course Nintendo's not going just going to say anything now, that spoils everything, and since this is a big deal, they must be holding it in until the DSiWare get's on it's own legs for Nintendo to start another service if they plan on bringing it out at all.

Who Are You?

Kid_A

I agree with Cheezy.
