We are all aware the VC is not going to happen in the US or Europe. Let's change their minds!

If you look at my email to Nintendo:

https://www.nintendolife.com/forums/ds/nintendo_have_no_plans_...

You will see that they are taking it seriously. Lets get as many people as we can to flood Nintendo with questions about it!

Greetings,
I am writing you in regard to the possibility of a Virtual Console service for the Nintendo DSi console. I am aware that Nintendo has no plans to make such a service available in the US. But I write to you in protest of this decision. We very much would like to have this service in our region.
We feel that it would be warranted and that there would be sales as we would more than willing pay:
300 Points : Gameboy
500 Points : Gameboy Color
700 Points : Gameboy Advance
400 Points : GameGear
400 Points : Atari Lynx
We do feel that it is a must to have the Vitrual Console service in our region and we thank you for you consideration.
Sincerely,

Note: Feel free to change the point values to what you see fit as that is a general overall average around the internet

It is known that Nintendo listens to emails and reviews via Club Nintendo. Let's give them something to think about!

A Virtual Console for DSi sounds like it would only hurt 3rd party support for DSiWare, which seems to be in short supply to begin with. I hope one doesn't happen yet, lest hard-working developers go unnoticed and potential developers be turned off.

zss_shadow has a point, but this is still a good idea. I think that the listed price points are a bit idealistic (and odd, because the DSi Shop only has 200, 500, 800, and 1000+ point increments). Also, I think you should mention that a majority of people who are skeptics of the DSi would be willing to purchase the system if there were, in fact, a Virtual Console. In fact if you really want to get Nintendo thinking that should really be in the email.

I think Nintendo is planning a Virtual Console, the new enhancements the DSi has power-wise seem just enough to be able to emulate the Game Boy Advance, nothing more. I also think that it's in their best interest to speak nothing of it and hopefully diminish hope (that sounds funny o.O). This is like the reverse of WiiWare. Notice how VC games started to slow down before WiiWare came and during it? Couldn't this be to put an emphasis on the new games as opposed to the old ones? And why Nintendo don't make too many big efforts on WiiWare? To support 3rd party developers. However, there is no VC on the DSi and as such they need to get plenty of developers involved before they think about making a Virtual Console. Yes, a Virtual Console would entice people to buy the DSi, but so would numerous good games for the DSiWare service. By waiting on a VC, they could extend the sales longevity as well, perhaps? Not to mention if new developers had to go up against Nintendo's old classics and GBA games that are only last generation, there would be lots of worry going on. I think it is best to support the 3rd party games on DSiWare, would YOU prefer one great service and a diminishing one or just two great services?

I sent out the email, with some added persuasive arguments.

@zss_shadow I agree with you. BUT, here's what I know--Nintendo likes money. And gamers like Virtual Console. I think they'll put that together sooner or later. Yeah, Nintendo needs to give DSiWare some more time to expand before it can really think about putting out a Virtual Handheld. But we're getting like, what? Three DSiWare games a week? Tops?? It's going to take an eternity before DSiWare can actually compete with Apple's App store. If Nintendo is interested souley in making money, what they REALLY need to do is start an add campaign for DSiWare. But that's not very enticing right now because there's only like 5 games worth downloading. What makes that add campaign more enticing? Virtual Handheld. If people see that along with DSiWare, it'll really get their attention, because in their mind not only can they get exclusive downloadable games, BUT they also can get classic Nintendo handheld games--something they can't get on other handheld devices like the iPhone.

I think that we might actually peruade Nintendo if we could get this out in more places, it's not like they have to do much otehr than solve storage solution on the DSi and then just port the Damn games over!

Folks, I don't care what Nintendo says, the DSi Virtual Console will come. They leaked the information once before and I don't think it was just conjured out of thin air. They're constantly stating that they're not going to release something and then it appears. When they get ready, we'll get the service. But right now DSiWare is their baby and they're going to focus on it.

Plain old gamer :)

First off someone, like a MOD, should censor that post anyways for we can all live without the cursing on here!
And yes, even if some people are downright rude to each other and complain about complaining; we have the right to say what we feel or what is obvious! So there's no reason us to argue on here about a DSi VC... end of freaking story!

I think so too. I'd give it a year or so, but if nothing else this email thing will reinforce to them that the DSi Virtual Console is a good idea.

@Kid_A
I agree, they really could use some DSiWare advertising, most of the DSi advertisements are about the system itself. Other than Pop+ Solo, I've seen no DSiWare games actually advertised. o.O I think the low amount of games per week (just a theory) is the lack of support from others, so Nintendo tides us over with "Express" or "A Little Bit of..." stuff. The Virtual Console would really help them earn profits as well, but I expect they won't say a word of it until 2010 (again just a a theory).
Also, it never actually struck me what your name was until now, Mr.Radiohead. >.<

Oh really marktheshark? Well how about THIS email I got from Nintendo today:

"Hello again, Jake.

Thanks for your e-mail. I appreciate your taking the time to share your comments with us regarding this issue. Although I don't know if the Virtual Console-style service will ever be implemented, you can be sure that your email will be forwarded on to the appropriate department for further review.

Sincerely,

That was the second response they have sent me within the past 9 hours. My original email was a slight variation of the petition thing in this thread. They told me that I should invest in a GBA SP if I want to play old GB and GBA games as they still support those systems blah blah blah. So I sent this:

"Although you support the Game Boy Advance and Gameboy Advance SP systems, it doesn't change the fact that they're almost impossible to find nowadays. No major retailer in my area supplies them. Some stores, like Gamespot, sell used systems, but they aren't very reliable, and they are in very scarce supply. Not to mention that original Game Boy games only have a 2 year battery life, so even if I were to find a Game Boy advace/Sp that could play GB games, chances are the save files on said games wouldn't work. I realize that you still do repairs on said products, but I feel that it would be a waste of money to buy a fairly expensive system that I would inevitably have to send to you guys for repair. I have been a strong supporter of Nintendo my entire life. I currently own all of your systems (except for the Gameboys obviously) including a Wii and a DSi (along with countless games as my platinum Club Nintendo membership will show).

Although you may not currently have any plans for a Virtual Console style service for the DSi, I strongly urge you to consider the wonderful opportunities that it could bring. Many Wii Fans who are long time gamers own a Wii for the soul purpose of downloading classic games via the Virtual Console. And as I've said most DS Lite/PSP owners who are skeptical of the practicality of the DSi would be willing to invest in a DSi if there was such a service provided. Think of how enticing that add campaign would be! Currently, the DSiWare lineup pales in comparison to the Apple App store lineup (although it would certainly help if you offered more free apps) and therefore it's not a real selling point. Most of DSiWare's "best" games have better versions on the iPhone/iPod touch. But what you CAN'T get on the iPhone/iPod touch are classic Nintendo handheld games. I can't imagine that such a service would do anything but boost sales, make your longtime fans happy, and introduce a new generation of more casual gamers to some of your classic games.

I'm just saying, it would be silly not to at least consider the idea"

So maybe they just sent me the email to shut me up, but it's still shocking that they actually emailed me twice in one day. Maybe they are going to think about it (or if they already are, they're starting to REALLY think about it). Either way it makes a guy like me a little happier.
