I heard that Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story is an RPG. If it is, is it any good?

if you're talking 'finally', note that Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time has been out for much longer than Bowser's Inside Story, and it too is a Mario-series-based RPG for the DS, lol. :3

Is it easy, medium, or hard gameplay? And what about the story line? Does it have one or is it just a slug fest?

Medium. Some areas are cakewalk and some bosses are challenging. It has a story, but the game doesn't focus on it much.

I personally think M&L: Superstar Saga (GBA) is a much better game. The story is more a part of the game and there's a lot more variety in the locales.

Bower's Inside Story has a nice story, and its hilarious. I personally like it more than the original.

Super Star Saga and Bowser's Inside Story are both my favorite games for their respective systems.
And like someone else said, some sections are easy while some bosses are pretty hard.
If you are looking for a lighthearted, fun RPG that isn't longer than about 20 hours, these two are the ones for you.

Yeah I agree with many of the people here, that the difficulty is just right. I mean, there are tougher areas (like the bosses you speak of), but you never feel so overpowered that you can't win; you just need to get creative with your attacks and be very good at dodging. I still haven't finished M&L:BIS, only because I have a large backlog of games at the moment, but I am just now getting back into it to finish it, and I forgot that this is seriously one of the best games on the DS.

All the games in the series are good, but Bowser's Inside Story is the best out of the three!
