The bigger news is about Zelda Wii, methinks? Anywho, that makes total sense. Nintendo has never focused on graphics, and it would be downright stupid to implement in-depth motion controls into a handheld. People would be too embarrassed or physically unable to waggle their DS2s in some cases.
Warioware used a tilt sensor pretty well on GBA. I doubt "waggle" would even be practical sense you'd be shaking the entire system and screen, not just a controller. Most people naturally tilt the system as they play for racing games and such already, so I don't think it'd be a terrible idea. I'd personally prefer a Game Boy Super Advance, though, myself.
And yea, the lack of comment on Zelda Wii is disheartening, though not entirely unexpected.
@Adam By in-depth I meant waggle-y (and yes, it's a terrible term for extreme motion control; I am lazy and stole it from Daemon Hatfield [at about 1:00 in the video]). I understand that handheld games have had success with motion control before, but an entire handheld based around it seems overboard.

Ever played on an Ipod touch/ Iphone? If you've ever played Real Racing or Zen bound would realize how a system can be based around motion controls and be totally fantastic (and yes, I count the Idevice as a system that can play games well.) I have to agree with Rhansley, though. All that matters right now is the software line-up. Besides, the DSi still prints lots of money for them, so from a business perspective there is no reason that they should release a system for quite some time.
Best thread ever

I'm not dismayed because the DSi gets some more years of existence, but why say stuff and they have no meaning? Shame on that reporter.
Just because Nintendo says Iwata didn't say something doesn't mean Iwata didn't say it, it just means they didn't want to say it as a company yet. Hardly surprising stance for a super-secretive company; Miyamoto isn't even allowed to talk about his hobbies in public anymore.
tbh, the ds was never meant to be the true successor to the gba anyway. so anything that nintendo do with their handheld hardware is going to sell like hot cakes.

Yeah, Miyamoto is too much of a commodity for other companies to snatch up ideas from his childhood and current hobbies.
that's pretty weird that the newspaper would publish something like that if he didn't say it. either they ran with some small unrelated thing Iwata said, or Ninty's trying to cover something up. :3

They said they reported accurately. Did Iwata slip deets too early? hmm.....
I like the top comment on this page: "Maybe they interviewed an drunk Iwata an he accidentaly revealed that and now Nintendo wants to cover the fire"
