It'd also be good to not have to pay for the same content twice.

I'm a twenty something male

Granted the humour isn't my kind of thing. But there are lot of haters for this console and I haven't seen a legitimate reason for it yet.
Paying for same content twice? That ain't a problem for someone like me because I complete all my downloaded games 100%, or to the best that I can, before I delete them, and I never download them again (why would I want to play the same game again?)

So simply put, I completed all my downloaded games on DSi, and then I erased everything, sold my Dsi on, and bought a DSi XL ready to get some fresh new downloads. Simples.

That said, the as-yet unaddressed issue of DSiWare being completely 100% locked on to a specific piece of hardware IS a problem .

No doubt it is a problem.. but rather then sit, moan or troll why not just get on with it... i.e, my method post above. Now, granted it's no good if your a person that likes to play and download the same stuff a lot... that kind of person needs serious help imo

But honestly I was always going to get an XL and as soon as I heard that you couldn't transfer things, I knuckled down and made sure that I could complete everything I possibly could, so I had no regrets, and I made sure I got everything out of the stuff I bought so I wouldn't feel the need to buy it again. I done that and now I'm sitting pretty with a kick-ass console playing games on much bigger screens then most other people and damn chuffed about it.

Still better than the tagline for the original Nintendo DS. Are they doing this on purpose?

I was gonna get one until the 3DS announcement ,now I'm just gonna sit and wait with my phat instead. I do think the DS XL is cool but it has come out too late for me.

What's this bit for again?

Retro_Gamer

I don't know why people are hating the XL, you don't have to buy it. I don't have a DSi yet so it makes alot of sense for someone like me to get one and so I think it's a cool way to get more people into DSi. Also, the big screens make all the DS games look more detailed.

Is it after 9PM EST? You should probably ignore the above post.

@Sean007s, T_Neumann, BooNelson, Retro_Gamer and all others who are content with Nintendo's policy: I thought long and hard about this and I feel the need to reply since many of you don't know why people are "hating" on the XL. Firstly, you're right, no one is forcing me to buy the DSi XL and currently I'm won't. I'm merely expressing my displeasure on the policy of non transferrable DSiWare and its my opinion. Until now, I have supported Nintendo by purchasing every handheld they have made since the Game Boy with the exception of Game Boy Pocket and Color, often times simply because the exterior paint was different. I refuse to purchase a DSi XL based on one policy, non-transferrable DSiWare. Would I have liked to buy one, honestly yes, I would've bought 3. I am boycotting it and voicing my displeasure. I don't play my DSi on the go, I mainly play it at home, so larger screens would be perfect for me. Sorry if I feel a sense of entitlement that when I spend money on a game that I expect to be able to play it indefinitely unless initially specified. I personally don't believe in renting, I believe in owning and I'd very much like to have the right to play what I paid for on what is admitted by many of you to be the same system, a minor upgrade. There are certainly ways Nintendo can take care those that want content transferred. How about if they only allow 1 console to have access to content by disabling the ability to play content through optional firmware update? I'd like to have a say and an option. This is a big deal to some, I happen to be one of those people. I feel that if this is not made to be an issue and Nintendo doesn't hear about it then you can expect the same with 3DS, the minor upgrades that will follow that and Wii2. As seen in the video, they are marketing the XL to the current DSi crowd. Lastly, I'm not a kid, I turn 29 by the end of this month, if any of you wanna grab your ankles, smile and take it, kindly do so, its your decision, and I sincerely hope you do like it big in that case, but don't dismiss my opinion as mindless hating.

Paraphrased in case you're too lazy to read:
I hate the policy of the company, not the gaming system or the company. Its my opinion, if you disagree, it is a difference of opinion, not everyone thinks exactly like you do. It matters to me, I believe Nintendo should fix this problem. If you're okay with the policy, continue to be silent and content, but you shouldn't assume others are being irrational by voicing their discontent. Don't like my opinion, you're entitled, but I'm still allowed to have one.

Once again, for the 2nd time. It'd be nice to have larger screens and a new system, but it'd be nice not to have to pay for content I should be entitled to, that is what's keeping me from buying a DSi XL.

Looks like Nintendo is getting better at commercials. they should keep this up.

EDIT - Yeah, and i don't get people who hate the DSi XL just because they have to buy it to keep up with the latest technology. i mean, Nintendo did not intend to make it a successor to the previous version of DS. just another preferable option if someone chooses big over compact. (like oldies and people who can't read very well.) it's actually a smart (but not very.) move from Nintendo. giving more options to the certain people that can only play a handheld console where they can see the screen output clearly. it's absolutely not a replacement for your Current DSi. that's why Nintendo plans to release a next DS right?

@BooNelson: I appreciate the intelligent response you've provided, but I have not stated that the DSi XL is a poor product just that the policy of non transferrable DSiWare is poor and in the end, I can hold that as a reason to not support the XL. I've stated that I want a DSi XL, but being a DSi owner, Nintendo makes it disadvantageous for me to upgrade, yes upgrade, its a new system that came out after my initial DSi purchase. I believe DSiWare is absolutely integral to the DSi and is the centerpiece of the system, the key difference and sole reason to own a DSi vs a DS Lite as barely anyone I know is purchasing if for the sole reason of playing System Flaw, Foto Showdown or that fashion game I can't remember the name of. I don't see why this "flaw" cannot be fixed and I choose to make this an issue that needs addressing and would hope that others who are passionate about this issue also bring this up and to Nintendo also for them to address it. Even if in the end of it all, the XL won't have transferrable games, I feel it'd be a sad day when you find out that none of the content that you purchased on Nintendo systems in this generation will be transferrable to the next generation of Nintendo machines. Truthfully, I probably won't play most of my DSiWare games again, but I'd like to be the one that decides that and not have that decided for me. Yes, I mistakenly saw a black DSi instead of the DS Lite in the above commercial as that is what I own, sorry, my mistake, however simply because it is not shown in the ad does not mean that this new product is not created with the intent of current DSi owner's market consumption.

The point was why there is irrational hating on the DSi XL. I'm just stating that sometimes, its not irrational and providing my view on what would cause the bashing, primarily, its not the XL itself, its the service that is the centerpiece of the experience, DSiWare and if some of you posters still don't understand why some people have issues with the XL, it might be because you don't want to understand.

@sykotek

Good posts, and I understood completely what you said. But my bone of contention is that you are kind of implying that people who buy an XL are not really bothered or dead against Nintendo's one content per machine policy. I very much do not support this at all - the only reason I bought an XL was because I wanted the bigger screens! I've had every stage of the DS and have had no problem upgrading, because I love Nintendo and I always trust them I'm not wasting my money with an upgrade. Last night in a darkened room I played some Infinite Space on XL and this just underlined what I already knew - god I love Nintendo for this upgrade, thankyou - I cannot imagine myself playing on smaller screens anymore.

My point is, yes I'd have preferred to have not had to have gone through the whole process of very deliberately finishing off all my downloaded games so I could erase them and sell my dsi on... but I just got on with it, did it, and moved on! As it turns out, I downloaded Rayman and forgot to finish it, but I think I can live with that.

Where we do differ is your need to play things infinitely - I do not see that at all. Yes I think that, by rights, we should absolutely and definitely be able to buy something and use it as much as we want - but me personally that doesn't apply too. I'd love to play through some games again, packaged or downloaded, but won't because I'd rather remember the original feelings that I had when I played those games - this of course doesn't apply to games of my childhood that I have since caught up on via VC etc.. but I hope you get my point. For instance I played and completed all the art style games that have currently been released, enjoyed most of them, but won't be downloading them again, I have no desire for it!

^ But I appreciate the bottom paragraph is completely personal and doesn't apply to you.

@T_Neumann: What is a deal breaker for me is obviously not one for you. I'm glad you enjoy your XL. I would be a proud owner too had that anti-consumer policy not be in place. As evidenced by you owning one, Nintendo's policy didn't bother you that much, but it does bother me, again, not because I need to play things infinitely as you have incorrectly stated, but because I should be the one to make that choice and not have that choice be already made for me.

I was initially planning on digging up quotes from your previous posts in order to justify my assertions, but I didn't want to cheapen my message or offend you by sprinkling innuendo such as this, so I'll break this post into the serious portion above and the not serious below...

@T_Neumann: I hope you don't take offense, but I found it funny how much I can make Nintendo sound like a pimp.

Also, while I didn't bring it up at the time, I grab my ankles, smile and take it all the time. Maybe that's where my complacency is coming from?

@BooNelson: lol, I did kinda sneak that one in that last post didn't I? I apologize, I can go a bit far sometimes, I don't mean to attack anyone. As far as I'm concerned, we're all brothers and I don't have anything personal against any of you.
