If there is a DS game that I want that costs 40 dollars I'll just wait for it to go on sale or drop in price. For me 35 dollars is the most I would pay when it comes to a DS game. Sadly, it seems that there are less DS titles for $29.99 these days. I'm starting to see $34.99 as the new standard price-point.

I still don't see what you guys are complaining about. The RPP for DS games in Australia is AU$69.99, and for Wii games it is AU$99.99. For Nintendo Points, 100 points = AU$1.50.

AU$69.99 = US$64.61 = £39.59 = €43.08
AU$99.99 = US$92.31 = £56.58 = €61.54
AU$1.50 = US$1.39 = £0.85 = €0.92

US$40 for a DS game is a bargain.

Don't you just love inflation and the international economy?

Honestly, $40 for a game in the US is a little too much

$40? Nah, I wouldn't pay that much. I find very few DS games worth even $34.99.

Objection

I do think $40 is too much. You rarely see that price, except on Square Enix titles. Personally I think $30-35 is the maximum that a DS game should be unless its some limited edition. Squeenix like to add $5-10 to their titles, which I don't think much of.

Ballistikboy assumes you live in the US. The median DS game price in the US is $29.99, which is $10 less than $40.
You said the RPP is AU$69.99 there, so the question you should answer becomes:
"Is AU$79.99 (or about that) too high for a new DS game?"
.
.
As for me, US$40 in the US is expensive. 34.99 is my limit.

Just what I was saying... $35 after tax is just about $40 in the states... so you are paying $40 for a new DS Game... so is it worth it?

@NARH: it would depend very much on the game involved, how much it had to offer, and how much I really, really wanted it, but I know I would pass on it until the price dropped or i could find it used for less. $50 for a DS game is definitely too much for me personally, lol (it's actually a little high for Wii games too, tbh).

Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2 GRimoire of The Rift was 40$ when i bought it but it was well worth it. 112 hours and counting on playing it If the game is really good i guess 40 $ is ok

Yeah I think $40 for a portable game is pretty expensive. As they are suppose to smaller games, on-the-go games, games with smaller bite sessions, so $40 is way too much as I can buy certain new games on the Wii or PS2 for that price.

Excellent example. I put over 100 hours on this one too - even though you can get it cheaper now, this game was easily worth the $40 when it was released.

$40 is too much for most Wii games, so yea.

But your most Wii games aren't that good. There are lots of bad DS games too, but the DS doesn't tend to go very long without some good games.
