For all you who have it, is it worth upgrading to?

yes it is. There are and will be high quality dsiware games, and the virtual handheld will launch in the future (hopefully by the end of the year.) I'm only 10, so you may not want to take advice from a kid.

Yes it is. I do miss the GBA slot at times, but I now have reason to carry my GBASP again when the need fits. The browser, media player, camera and downloadable games are great.

Depends on your current system and your interests. If you have the first NDS it's totally worth it. If you have the DSlite you should think about wether it's worth the XY € / $ / £ (or what ever currency your country has) to get those updates (cameras, music player, dsiware games etc.) but I think currently it's not worth upgrading from a DSlite to a DSi. Maybe in 1-2 years it will be worth it but now the DSlite is still good enough. So my opinion is: If you have no DS or the First one it's worth it. If you have a pretty busted DSlite you should consider buying one but if you have a DSlite that is in a good condition you shouldn't get the DSi-my opinion
Probably getting a Vita with LBP soon...

IMO, It's absolutely worth it. Although the camera isn't that great of quality it's still alot of fun to play with(my mom loves that she can make her arms look thinner than they really are!). The music player is pretty good too although it would be nice if you could record sound for more than 10 seconds at a time. The web browser isn't amazing but it gets the job done(leaving this comment with it right now!). It's also nice that it has upgradable firmware much like the wii so that even if it isnt worth it to you now, it probably will be in the future. Probably the best feature though is the dsiware shop. Eventhough it's sort of weak right now, trust me, i had a japanese dsi at its launch and their shop picked up pretty fast(mostly thanks to the art-style games). And as for the omission of the GBA slot, i personally don't really mind because i didnt use it on the ds lite that often anyway and if that is a big thing for you, no doubt that the dsi virtual console will be going soon so you can get GBA that way. Plus it would be in the console always so there is no need to carry cartridges. There are a few more technical reasons to get a dsi but thats the gist of it. If you ask me, go for it!

if you're still on the fence, i'd say you can get by without it until they start releasing better DSiware games and some games with must-have DSi content. the better sound and larger screens are really nice, but the camera is more of a toy than an actual tool, in practice.

Well I only have the original, so I think the DSi would be worth it. I was actually planning to get a DSlite, but they realeased the DSi so quickly. LOL

Why not get an extra 5 games or something and a Lite?
10. Posted: Sun 17th May 2009 06:45 BST
Doesn't a used lite still cost around 100$ That could give me a couple new games. But then I don't get the DSiWare. =(
11. Posted: Sun 17th May 2009 07:05 BST
I can say in Australia 2nd hand DS lites cost $130, and 2nd hand DS phats are $75. Games cost about $30 if you know where to look. DSi's can't be found second hand and cost about $270 new.

They are 170$ down in US
13. Posted: Sun 17th May 2009 07:33 BST
I mean AU$. AU$1 is about US$0.75 now. So they're a little cheaper in the US, but not that much cheaper.

Wasn't Intellivision lives! rejected for "rnning under emulation," which violated Nintendo policy? Don't expect a virtual console any time soon.

ah, then you got lucky -- there are people complaining that they just upgraded to the Lite and then they went and released the DSi a couple months later, lol. if you were going to upgrade anyway, then go for the DSi.

That's what I'll do

People should read news articles more closely. This is because Nintendo doesn't want emulated games on their Wii/DsiWare channels. It has got nothing to say about a virtual handheld. Sure, it's silly, but that's Nintendo for ya... I guess.

I don't think it's silly. There should be a clear distinction between services offering new games and services offering old games.

I plan on upgrading, main reason is the SD card slot and I could put music on it and listen to it there. (don't want to get an MP3 player, lol)How do you convert MP3s to whatever format the DSi uses anyway?
