Topic: I'm on the edge (FF III)

I'm playing FF III and have gotten through the molten cave for the THIRD time only to be defeated. I am ready to throw the game and my DS out the window.

Anyone else have similar frustrating experiences?!?!?!?!?!

I haven't gotten that far yet, but sounds like you need to level up your characters some more.

I've had a similar experience with this very game. I still haven't beaten it. I'm stuck at the last dungeon. I've level-grinded out of my mind and I still find some way to kill myself.

I like FFIV a whole lot better.

There can only be one, like in that foreign movie where there could only be one, and in the end there is only one dude left, because that was the point.

FFIII can be frusterating for people because it is harder than most RPG's nowadays, You will have to spend time Leveling for most dungeons. But once you do that it'll become much more managable and more fun too! Dont give up on it!

I never played any of the original FF come to think of it. Whats available on the DS and which would you recommend? I finished Chrono Trigger just a month ago, and feel like starting someting new

What I find frustrating is that the difficulty goes WAAAAAAAY up once you hit the molten cave. I enjoy the game but if I don't get through this soon I may have to take a break from it for a while.

@ Will

FFIII and FFIV are both on DS while you can get FFI&II , FFIV, FFV and FFVI for GBA. Also if your looking for another good game Check out Dragon Quest V for DS.

@ Merg
Yeah it does get really frusterating and I did put it down a few times, But once you get going and get used to leveling a little it becomes a lot more fun

Yeah...I do need to get used to this. To be honest this is my first RPG. I'm getting back into gaming since the long hiastus from childhood. Now that I have kids I'm becoming a kid again.

Ive been playing them all my life and yet I still DESPISE grinding. But older games ( and there remakes!) are like that. Just makes them a little harder and longer I guess

@Will: The only main series FFs that I know of on the DS are III and IV. There's some spinoff games (Tactics Advance 2, CC: Ring of Fates), but those are the two main games.

I highly recommend FFIV, especially over III. III was just too archaic for me. Little to no story, underdeveloped characters, weird balance issues, and a crapload of level-grinding. IV is very good. I've enjoyed the story and like a lot of the characters. It sometimes has issues, as well, but it's just better overall.

EDIT: I'm too slow! (in taunting Sonic the Hedgehog voice) Or just too long-winded.

Cool, thanks ChaosValentine. I might pick up FFIV at the weekend so if FFIII is too frustrating. Cheers

Edit: Thanks also PhoenixSage lol!

Of course. Have fun with it (if you get it), and if you don't, you know who to blame.

Also, I am really slow.

Yeah...Then I spent a week leveling and walked through it...And late game you will want to be level 80+....If you move onto 4, it's the hard version...I struggled late game at max level of 99 and with the extra decants they add it...

Okay...I'll show my lack of knowledge in RPG gaming...levelling? Is that simply wandering around the map and fighting what comes at me to increase my levels?

Yep! A nicer term than "grinding".
