I still have and regularly use my Nintendogs Edition, turquoise colored DS. Never needed another version of the DS. After hearing that there would be a DSi shop, I wanted it almost as badly as I want the 3DS because I assumed there would be a Virtual Console on it. Well, we all know what you do when you ASS-U-ME. Gaining a service that distributes plenty of shovelware and iPhone-style apps (though there are things like Shantae that I want) wasn't near enough to compensate for the loss of the GBA slot. DSi would've been a day one purchase with Virtual Console. But, Nintendo will just get a few hundred of my bucks a little later that I'd expected, when 3DS comes out!
Let's attack aggressively, kupo! :D

if anything Dslite is a downgrade as it losses a function in backwards compatability.
The DS Lite is backwards compatible with GBA games.
Yep indeed it does i forgot lol its the DSI that got rid of the GBA slot my mistake anyways i learnt from my mistake of getting DS from day one well had mine straight from nintendo before released in UK. I will give the 3DS a good while before i get one.
@JesusSaves actually, I think it's quite the contrary. On the DSi/DS lite, it's right there when you need it. On the ds phat, you have to stop and reach behind it to pull out the stylus. Lite/DSi much more convenient.

My old DS i gave to a friend. it still works even though the top screen is coming off. I have a Ds lite now but I kinda miss the DS phat because it was easier to turn on and off. looking forward to the 3ds
I'm still a phatty too! My original launch day one had a dead pixel which I put up with ,a couple of months later I won another one so sold the dead pixel one to a friend for his 4 year old son (who I knew would wreck it).Suffice to say mines still going strong. The lite never seemed worth it and DSiware hasn't got that many must have games (though there are a few I'm intrested in) and the camera seems a pointless afterthought. Also I much prefer the chunky design and have quite a few GBA games I like too whip out now an again. Plus Metroid Prime pinball without the rumble pak seems wrong to me though I suppose it would be quieter!!
The ds phat i gave my friend has survived being broke with the top screen hanging loose and also the week after i gave it to my friend, she dropped it in the toliet and the phatty still works perfectly. However, my boyfriend did the same with his psp and sadly it "drowned", which goes to show nintendo gaming systems are made to last while psp's are kinda not made as well. (The only reason i got my psp was for kh: birth by sleep).
The oldest system i have that works is the 1989 sega genesis. It's been in storage but i recently took it out and wasted five minutes trying to remember which little switch on the old thing turns it on. I tried out my sonic 1 game and it was still as fun as ever though i was surprised that the game i had in there was a barney game that had the sticker pulled off. Aparently it really had been collecting dust in there cuz i was like 5 the last time i watched the creepy dino.

My DSi was also dropped in a toilet (and burnt on a hob) and still works perfectly. Hats off to you, Nintendo :3

Why would your gaming Handheld doing in The Bathroom anyway?
But My DS Fat survived being a Dog's Chew Toy, and being throw out the Car in the Highway. And The Screen is still not Crack, but the R button dosen't work.

The Phat is the only DS I've ever had. =P Built like a tank, it is.
