You read that right folks. Almost 6 years and no upgrade, which is a good call for my part because the 3DS is just around the corner. My DS is still functional. I'm probably the only person who still plays with the fat DS, I guess that what makes me unique.
Well you've got alot more patience with technology than I do. I left the DS phat behind the second the lite came out and did the same thing with the lite when the DSi came out. And I think you can guess what will happen to my DSi when 3DS comes out More power to ya though. I could NEVER stick with a device that has been revamped multiple times for 6 years.
Frankly, there's nothing unique about that. I know plenty of people who use the original DS. Swear by it, even.
If you already owned a DS, there was never really much reason to upgrade. Sure, the Lite and DSi make some significant improvements, but the original is sturdy and plays pretty much all the games the Lite and DSi do.
Of course, those are the reasons my DS-owning friends justify it to me. At the end of the day, to them upgrading would be a waste of a lot of money so I don't argue with them about it.
I Have my DS Phat, but it not what it use to be. I upgraded to a DSi.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

Welcome to NL OtherL. I still have my original DS and I still play it on a regular basis almost everday in fact on my way to work. The main reason I refuse to buy one is the fact that they got rid of the GBA slot on the newer DSs and I still have alot of GBA games that I play still. I will probably pick up a 3DS when they come out in NA.
The DS works fine. Ds lite's differences you can see the instant you turn it on with the warning sign. It's basically the same, got a brighter screen, and compressed design but it's really just the same. The DSi is more of a reimagining instead of an upgrade because of the lack of gba games but to each their own.
I only have one GBA left, and I keep it in My old Fat DS
And that game is.....Yoshi Island

Personally, I'm inclined to agree with them. Why spend more money on a new handheld when you already got a perfectly good one that plays the same games? That's why I still got my Phat, and the only upgrade I'm getting is a 3DS.
I still have my original DS too. I didn't feel the need to go out and buy a new one everytime it gets a redesign. It still works just fine. I never really wanted a Dsi. Just because it has two cameras isn't enough of a reason to get one. I will be upgrading when the 3DS comes out but I'll still probably hang on to my old DS simply because it plays GBA games.

@Mickeymac Yeah, it's not like I disagree with them. I started with a Lite though, so I had a lot of fun showing it off to my DS-owning friends. (And that's when all the justifications came out. )
I still have the original DS which i got money off as part of the nintendo stars of club nintendo. Other than being thinner and bit smaller i'd argue that there not upgrades, to me i'd say DSi is the only true upgrade as it added dsi shop and sd slot. if anything Dslite is a downgrade as it losses a function in backwards compatability.
I still have original Gameboy as well and GB Colour which was an upgrade as it was colour altho i guess not really as its same innards really. Most are not really upgrades more making them more pleasing to the eye and hopefully easier to hold.
