Well, I do not have a DSi but I do own a 3DS which plays DSi ware software. My DS games all fail to connect to the internet (online multi-player) like mario kart DS. That problem would come from my broadband which doesn't support what the DS's online connection. It even occurs when I use my 3DS to play thoes games. However, my 3DS can connect successful with 3DS software. I am thinking to buy the game bomberman (which supports online play) I would really want to know if that will work like 3ds software or fail like the nintendo DS software.

It's a complicated one, this. It's usually down to the fact that your wireless router/access point doesn't support the older (and more easily hackable) forms of data encryption that the DS uses.

I take it you've been into the 3DS settings and tried to configure your "Nintendo DS Connections" in the Internet Settings menu? If you can't connect to your access point in there, your only option is to see if you can change the encryption type of your wireless router.

My router doesn't support the encryption type that the DS settings needs for its main channel, but it does have a guest/hotel mode which creates a 2nd network and that does support it.

Another option would be to see if you can disable encryption altogether. If you want to restrict who can connect, you should be able to enable MAC filtering and add the trusted devices manually. This will leave your data transmissions open to snooping, but at least stop anyone using your network for free.

If you don't understand any of this, find someone who does who can help you. A forum isn't the best place to try explain it all in more useful detail.

The DS (and DS software) require a WEP connection. The DSi and 3DS (and their games and 'ware) are able to use connections with stronger forms of encryption. If you can access the internet on your DSi or 3DS, you'll be able to play DSiWare games that allow WFC play as well.

i have problems connecting ds games to the internet with my 3ds. sometimes it doesnt work at all. e-shop and friendslist are much easier to connect

This is because DS games do not support WPA encryption passwords

So bomberman on the DSi ware WILL support WPA encryption right? Well, i'l need to wait for the last week of school while that's the most sensible time to ask my mum to get the game...
