Topic: Good Japanese DS Games to Import

Posts 1 to 19 of 19

I have the chance to get a Japanese DS game without paying for shipping and handling, but I can't think of any good games to import. Any recommendations?

Also, can anyone confirm that Japanese DS games are playable on the DSi and/or 3DS?

As far as I can tell, they can. Then again I only tested two games: Tales of Hearts and Tales of Innocence.

Can I get in on this?

I'd like to say yes but that's kind of a lot of money to loan...

Looking into all the recs now.

EDIT: Very interested in Retro Game Challenge 2, and semi-interested in Jump Superstars. I would want Kuni but that one would be a pain to play in Japanese. Does anybody have rough prices on these (websites that sell them)? Is playasia.com a good indicator of how much these would be in stores? Are they even still in stores possibly?

Haha I grabbed a copy from Play-Asia when it was on sale for $50 USD. Although once shipping was added in it was more like $80

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

Wow, I thought I only paid like $5 shipping to the US when I bought a new copy of SaGa 3 from them.

Don't know if Mickeymac's post was real or sarcasm since it's now $86 + shipping.
Could be real, I remember passing up Mother 3 when it dropped to like $23. At least I was able to still get a copy before the prices got real insane.

Aw... I see now that it includes a hardcover book. I guess that would explain why it might be unusually expensive to ship.

I know the last couple posts were a major bump.
But it wasn't mentioned. I suppose many by now know only games designed for the original DS are region-free. Games designed for DSi are not region-free.
Need to check the game's product code: NTR-xxxx-xxx games are okay, TWL-xxxx-xxx games require any DS/DSL or same region DSi/3DS to play. (unless you really want to play any of the four DSi-required games, then only the later are. But chances you haven't heard of any of those games.)
