I recently beat Pokemon Black. Overall, I liked it. I got used to the new pokemon, got used to the new music and areas. I really liked the story this time around, it was much more fleshed out than usual. The visuals and music, combined with the story made for a more 'epic' feeling to the game. This was definitely one of the better Pokemon games.

I 100% agree, but I thought all the Gyms felt more like paths than puzzles.

Definitly the best kirby game I've ever played. I felt it was better than the recent Kirby's Epic yarn, 'and' it actually offered some pretty solid challenge during the later modes and boss battles.

I think I may be one of the few that enjoyed DOS more than Symphony of the Night which is still highly regarded as thee' definitive Metroidvania experience. Maybe it's just me, but i found DOS's boss battles to be much more refined, tight and polished where as SOTN based on my memory were actually kind of sloppy and ridicuously button mashy and easy...Anyways, the Controls in DOS are superb, the graphics are super detailed and beautiful to the point where you can even see Soma breath form in the cold winter air, and the abilities and souls which you gain are fantastic for the most part. I love getting a new ability that allows me traverse to a certain part of an area.

But yup! SOTN actually kind of put me off from the Metroidvania franchise, but DOS on the other hand has actually made me more intruiged if anything...I mean I reallly really enjoyed the experience i must say. The music while pretty solid and definitly had a few memorable tracks wasn't quite up to snuff or on par compared to the outstanding music heard in SCIV or Rondo of Blood for example. Most of it had this Royal poshe' transtlevania-like vibe going on, while others like the Abyss really felt like you were in this grimey hellish demonic world.

If there's anything I didn't like about the game, it had to of been the generic bubble gum Anime art work during the cutscenes....Order of Eclesia appears to have the best gothic-styled and traditional-ish art work yet, too bad that wasn't present in DOS. And as for the touch screen controls, I actually didn't mind them...In ways it was kind of fun doing the seals, but screwing up a few times and constantly having to fight the boss again just because your lines we're quite pixel perfect was frusturating. This happened to me while facing off against Death. one of the BEST battles int the entire game, easily. awesome stuff! He slayed me too many times to count. :o

Also, i found the Final Boss...while massive and monstrous physically was a bit of a dissapointment battle wise....His first form was laughably easy. His 2nd form however was cheap as hell....He's practically unbeatable if you plan on going in without using a stock full of MP and or HP's...And that's all to the do with those overpowered flying pest enemies that keep coming at you. I never used one single HP or MP on any of the other bosses in the game which made it more challenging, rewarding and satisfying to play....But I had no choice for the final boss. Anyways, I finished the game at 98% and unlocked Julious mode...Made me realised how much i missed the whip! :p

A great game indeed. I just started another play through of this game (I guess I beat it at one point but dont remember lol) so far my only complaint is I wish you could put the play screen on top, cause after 20 minutes or so I have to stop cause I start getting a bad neck ache from having to use the bottom screen.

lol That was my ONLY complaint with the game at first. My neck got really sore, it was just akward to play...But once you tilt your head up a bit and raise the DS it's all good...Or you get used to it. But ya, Why Konami didn't have the option to switch the screens around is pretty odd. And I for one didn't mind drawing the seals.....It added an extra pinch of intensity to the boss battles that's for sure. Death easily springs to mind, awesome boss fight by the way AND i loved facing off against that mutated dog-like creature as seen above in that screen shot.

Anyways, Have you tried out POR or OoE yet? I doubt I'll play another Metroidvania for a while, but when I do I think I'm going to go with OoE, i love the gothic traditional and super detailed art style instead of this generic anime crap we got in DOS.

@Waveboy: No I havent played PoR or OoE yet. I am currently looking for those 2 as well as some of the Ace Attorney games. I am just about to start Pokemon White with my son (I got him Black while I got White so we can trade between games) so after I finish that I will probably look for the other two Castlevanias. I am also looking for Castlevania Bloodlines on the Genesis right now since PoR is a direct sequel to it.

As far as art style goes yeah I like the gothic style that was in SotN and AoS over the anime style of DoS. But whatever my main interest is the storyline.

Well, I've gotta say the gameplay pretty much suprassed my expectations, it's another brilliant showcase for the DS's touch screen and stylus controls...And boy do things get nerve racking intense and super challenging. You'll be sucking out blood, puss, cutting out tumors, patching them up, pulling bones out, sitching together wounds, fighting GUILT Bosses that you'll have to take down with your trusty laser ect ect and it never gets stale, the game is incredibly fun and addicting to the point where I couldn't put it down at times. The final Operation had me so tense and nervous to the point where my heart was beating 10 million mega bits per second. I've heard a lot of people can't beat this game(at least when set on 'normal'), and it's quite noticable why haha, but i did!:o

But i gotta say, at first i Hated the sophisticated laid back 'serious' and generic anime approach to the character designs....The first TC seems to have more of a silly Elite Beat Agents anime-like look to it which just seems more fun and appealing than what's shown here. Part of me wishes this were Mario themed, where i was instead removing tumors from Goomba's, or reattaching ripped off wings to Paragoomba's, wouldn't that be crazy awesome? B-)

As for the music, it seemed pretty fitting all around and the music was always great when performing Operations. But there's this one awful track that plays here and there that reaks of Jazzy Elevator tunes.....At first, I couldn't bear it...Actually, i remember rolling my eyes and letting off a big 'UGH' in disgust.lol The story was also somewhat interesting and compelling, but the dialogue tends to slightly drag on a bit here and there. Anyways! This is a big, big step up from Mario Party DS, and Brain Age 2...Which were the last 2 DS titles that I tried to play...Yep, 'tried'....But had to quit due to sheer bordum... which are now being sentenced to death and will be going into the Video game box of ultra hell, to join that little b*tch Cooking Mama to never see day light again muhaha!

DoS Disappointed me, the generic anime, the squeezed out storyline (a Dracula castle mock, really?) and the stupid touch screen controls. I did finish the game at 99.7% completion though. I did enjoy Aria of Sorrow a lot though. Great story, great art and no touch screen! I have finished all of the castlevania Ds games and would replay all of them, but my favorite was PoR.

You've gotta admit, the Boss battles were much better in DOS than SOTN for example. in DOS they just felt sloppy, and kind of poorly thought out attack and pattern wise. DOS felt much more refined, tighter and polished.

If anything, aside from the generic unapealing anime art style I was actually dissapointed by the final boss. HIs first form was hilariously easy yet time consuming....But his second form, while monstrous....Wasn't exactly one of the best battles in the game. I think those flying cheap bug demons did it to me, they were retarted annoying. Constantly respawning and they took forever to kill.

Just finished Final Fantasy IV. The only thing I disliked is the final Crystal Palace having too much levels (11) until reaching Zemus, and also I found a couple of random enemies and treasure-guardians to be too hard to defeat, even harder than Zemus himself. Also, the overall music was monotonous, compared to other entries in the FF series. But, other than that, a real gem of a game, probably the best in the year it was released.

Zelda - Phantom Hourglass, I thought it was great, I would have preferred more islands over the Temple of the Ocean King personally, and dread that they implement that into a 3D game. Have moved straight onto Spirit Tracks.
