@yoyogamer - It's coming to DSiWare, which means you will also be able to download it from the eShop. No problems there.

That means I can download the game on both my 3ds and Dsi! Now I just need to find someone who is willing to play this game on the Dsi...

Yeah, I'm in the exact same situation where I have a DSi and 3DS, so either I have to try to fanagle playing on both systems or find someone to help.

So I hope there's online multiplayer which will work. I really hope so..

Not to be negative, but while Four Swords Adventures (developed internally by Nintendo, for the Gamecube) is one of my favorite multiplayer games of all time, the Four Swords game that came with LttP on the GBA, developed by Capcom, was a neat idea but not particularly great. It's fun for a few minutes with a friend or two, but nothing tremendous, and only consists of a few short levels.

I'm guessing, since it's free, that this will be the GBA version, and probably local wireless only. However, Nintendo didn't really say as far as I know, so they might just surprise us and release something with new levels or online play. It's possible...

That it is, according to Gonintendo. That's fine with me - I've never played that one! I absolutely love the Gamecube one and am currently playing it in multiplayer for the first time having bought a second Gamecube-GBA cable. If the GBA one is even half as good as the Gamecube one it'll be well worth downloading!

This version has Randomly generated dungeons, which adds some replay value.

Well luckily there are four of us in our house that have a DSi / 3DS so it will be great to be able to play this altogether because its expensive for us to buy multiples of DSiware games just to play against/ with each other.

Don't get the wrong Idea, the game basically is four randomly generated dungeons, no overworld.

I really hope that it is a single player adventure, but with streetpass and spotpass like features similar to Dragon Quest IX. The could really turn this into a big thing with players playing up and down the country on 3ds or dsi because it is available to everyone coz. it is free!

according to IGN this will in fact be the GBA version! Guess that makes it pretty clear that GBA games are on the way!
I figured they would come eventually.

Maybe because DSi was dead in the water as soon as 3DS released. If you have a 3DS there's really no point in owning a Dsi aside from being compatible with GBA. That won't even be an issue once GBA is confirmed for 3DS VC.

Well, I bought my DSi with the expectation there would be VC, and even though I have a 3DS I would like the option to buy VC on the DSi. The DSi has a slightly bigger screen and the resolution isn't as high, so viewing GB games at native resolution wouldn't look as completely ridiculous on it. More importantly, it's kind of unfair to abandon DSi owners when there's no reason it couldn't do VC and the system was released so recently. If this free Four Swords game is all DSi owners have to look forward to, that's a pretty sad way to pretend we haven't been forgotten about.

@iphys

You just summed up how I feel for buying a DSi perfectly. I think Ninty just screwed us over with the DSi, making us believe that there'd be a VC (the main reason I unloaded $170 the day the DSi launched) coming eventually. And then 2 years later they move on to the 3DS and say, "Sorry, the VC's not coming to the DSi after all. It's coming to the 3DS only." Now, I'm not totally angry, as there ARE some fairly good DSiWare games, and for that I'm happy, but couldn't they at least give us the VC for the DSi as well?

I thought they took the GBA slot of the DSi. That was the main reason I opted to keep my DS. To me it just wasnt worth it losing the GBA slot for a camera.

Personally I think the whole DS line is a joke. Dont get me wrong its a great system but I think they were just leading consumers along with the different versions. I mean honestly you compare how many versions of the DS they had compared to the Wii for example. It seemed to me like a new version of the DS was coming out every 6 months. Just with this added and that added. They should have just kept it in development untill the final produce was finished.

Well the final product might as well been the ds lite, as that is really the only one you ever needed until the 3ds 5 years later.

It's a port of the Gameboy Advance version of Four Swords. VC games are played using an Emulation, this game will be designed to be played on a DSi. It is therefore considered Dsiware and not a VC game.

I guess it would make since what you guys said about it being free because you can't do much with it. Just like Poke'dex 3D and Excitebike! haha
